The body of a young man in his early 20s, allegedly murdered, has been found at the banks of a river at Dzemeni Todzi in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region.
Similawo Adzawo was said to have been murdered a few days after he and his brother Kofi Nyanku had been contracted to work on a farm at Karia Newtown in Dzemeni.
Mr. Stephen R. Kwawu, an Opinion Leader at Wortoe, a surburb of Ho where the brothers lived said Nyanku told him that they left Ho to the farm but realised that it was a “weed” plantation and refused to work on it.
Mr Kwawu said Nyanku told him that he decided to rest under a tree after their refusal to work on the farm but Adzawo was lured to a drinking bar and later convinced to work on the farm.
He said Nyanku said whiles they were asleep at night, he woke up to use the washroom and realised his brother was not on the bed.
He said he inquired of his whereabout from the person who contracted them and was told not to worry.
Nyanku said he could not find Adzawo the next day after a downpour and decided to raised an alarm after which a search party set out and traced some footsteps in a mud to the river.
He said at the bank of the river they found the decomposing body of Adzawo, where some community elders advised that the body be buried near the river for spiritual reasons.
Nyanku said he objected to the advice and demanded that the matter was brought to their community chief in Ho and the Police.
Police in Ho have meanwhile confirmed the incident and said the person who contracted the two young men was in police grips assisting in investigation.
