Madagascar night event was held Tuesday night in Jakarata, where Malagasy President Hery Rajaonarimampianina attended the Afro-Asian Summit, a statement from the presidency said on Wednesday.
The president said that Madagascar needed to cooperate with Indonesia in four sectors including agriculture, drinking water supplying, Energy and mining.
The president said that on education, the polytechnic university of Vontovorona in Antananarivo already has tight cooperation with the University of Triscati in Indonesia.
“If Madagascar wants to make his oil production as source of durable development, the leaders should be stricter than before in respect of environment,” Emil Salim, a famous Indonesian professor expert on environment and energy told Madagascar’s president during Madagascar night.
One of organizers of Madagascar night event is the Indonesian company Benchmark which held 40 percent of shares in Madagascar Oil. The later has just received its license to produce crude oil in Western Madagascar.
The second organizer of Madagascar night is the Center of Diplomatic and Strategy Studies (CEDS), which trains many officials in Madagascar. The CEDS sent its students to Jakarta to learn why Indonesia was developed so quickly.
The event had a cultural show comparing the dance from the two countries, the statement said.
Historically, a source of Malagasy people is from Indonesia and Africa. That is proved that many Malagasy people look like Indonesian. Also many Indonesian words exist in Malagasy language. Enditem
