Leadership of Parliament has placed a ban on the use of placards by Members of Parliament (MPs) during budget presentation by the Minister of Finance Amoako Atta on Thursday March 2, 2017.

In a proposal on the floor of Parliament on Friday, the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu argued that the development as has been in the past casts the image of the legislature in a bad light.

He reprimanded the minority for the behaviour during the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

EIB’s Ibrahim Alhassan reported that Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu who seconded the proposal called on the majority to conduct themselves well in future given that that side of the house started singing during the address.

MPs in the past have been spotted holding placards with different inscriptions during and after reading of budget.
