The La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Franklin Anku, has presented a cheque for ?10, 643, 00 to be disbursed among three unions of people with disabilities.
The money, sourced from the Assembly?s Common Fund, would go to the Visually Impaired, Physically Challenged and the Hearing Impaired unions.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Anku, said each union would receive ?2,600.00 while 5% of the total amount would be used for administrative charges.
He said other person with disabilities like the Albinos, who had not received their allowances, would also be given their share in due course.
He advised students with disabilities to be loyal to the Unions that were supporting them to complete their courses and also be alive to their social responsibilities.
Mr. William Asante, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Assembly for the fairness exhibited in dealing with them, especially in the disbursement of the fund.
He thanked members of the Assembly for their compassion.
