MCE Chases Toilet Money

The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben, Hon Dr.Kwaku Owusu
Acheampong? has hinted that, the Assembly will soon prosecute over sixty
caretakers of public Toilets owing the assembly with total arrears of? GH cedis
87,817.He said some of the toilet caretakers have accumulated monthly fees
of GHC 5000 fallen within July and September which they have failed to pay
to the assembly despite all efforts made. Hon Kwaku Owusu Acheampong
said ,the Assembly needs revenue to embark on developmental projects
, therefore will not condone such acts in the Municipality.

NEW JUABEN MCEHe said the names and particulars of the defaulters will soon be made available to
the Environmental? and Sanitation Department Prosecutor for legal action to
be taken to retrieve the huge arrears.He said this when during the Ordinary
sessional Meeting of the New Juaben Municipal assembly? held?on Wednesday.

He said the Assembly has directed the Environmental Department to also
prosecute persons that litters the environment as the assembly makes effort
to get rid of refuse in the municipality and with that effect, the assembly
has taken delivery of four environmental and sanitation trucks.He said five
refuse containers have been procured by the assembly for allocation to
various communities.

Hon Dr.Owusu Acheampong said,the assembly is to inject some dynamism into
revenue collection machinery to ensure sufficient revenue collection.He
said as at?31st August?this year,a total of GHC 1,689,280.74 representing
74% revenue .

The MCE? disclosed the assembly readiness to revive sporting
activities in the municipality to give exposure to football talents in the
municipality thereby helping to secure jobs for the youth.He urged the
assembly members to therefore start mobilizing the youth in their electoral
areas to tighten their boot for a competition to select footballers to form
the a team in the municipality.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly Hon. Boadi Sarpong who ealier clashed
with a government appointee over matters relating to the decision by the
assembly to prosecute caretakers of Public toilets in arrears emphasized
that, the assembly will not relent on its effort to retrieve all monies own
the assembly. He also urged members of the Assembly? to? obey the standing
orders to ensure orderliness at the assembly.
