Mr Kofi Alorgbey, Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Authority, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said ?Subscribers who have not yet enrolled unto the biometric system, but still have their cards active, can access healthcare until that card expires? .

He said this on Monday during a mass registration exercise for the Muslim community in Koforidua.

The exercise was a special privilege given to the Muslims to wish them happy Eidul Adha and to encourage people to enroll onto the biometric system of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Mr Alorgbey emphasized that no health facility would deny anybody access to healthcare because that person holds an active non-biometric NHIS card.

He said the cards could be used until it expired.

Special attention for the day was given to the aged, pregnant women and children.

Mr Alorgbey assured subscribers that the scheme had improved on its service delivery to ensure that subscribers got their cards with ease, and urged people in the Zongo communities to enroll onto the biometric system to be able to access quality healthcare.

The PRO, however, condemned rumours that subscribers could not access healthcare with the non-biometric NHIS card at various health facilities.
