The Sixth General Assembly of the E. P. Church Saturday elected Reverend Dr Seth Senyo Agidi, as new Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P.) Church, Ghana.
Reverend Dr Agidi, the Director of Programme, Ecumenical and Social Relations of the Church will be inducted into Office in January 2015 for a term of six years taking over from Right Reverend Francis Amenu.
Reverend Dr Agidi polled 128 votes to beat Reverend Dr Setri Nyomi, outgoing Secretary-General of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), 94 votes and Reverend Dr Mrs Bridget E. Ben-Naimah four votes.
Reverend Dr Agidi comes into office with a wealth of experience and knowledge in church administration theology and social work spanning 28 years.
In a remark during his introduction at the Ordination and Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, Rev Dr Agidi, 59, said he was only ?the first among equals? and not better than his colleagues.
?Together we will move this Church forward to the next level?, he said and called for prayers for guidance and strengthening.
Right Reverend Amenu exhorted members of the Church to embrace the new leadership, stressing that what was important, in moving forward was to show God?s goodness for Church, community and the nation.
A total of 40 Commissioned Pastors who had undergone two year?s probation were ordained while 33 others who were commissioned on July 10, were also introduced to the congregation.
Also introduced was the newly elected Moderator of the Eglise Evangelique Presbyterien Du Togo, (EEPT) Right Reverend Paul Sename Abiwu.
In his sermon, Reverend Dieter Arends, President of Bremen Mission called for prayers for peace and justice in troubled spots in the world.
The theme for the General Assembly was ?God of life, lead us to justice, peace and dignity for wholeness.?
