A 45-year old self-employed , Mr Simon Doudu, was on Saturday elected Chairman of Awutu-Senya West Constituency of the National Democratic Congress Party (NDC).

He polled 224 out of the valid votes cast to beat Lieutenant Colonel Retired Daniel Osadu, the incumbent, who obtained 176 votes.
The election was conducted by the Awutu-Senya West Officials of the Electoral Commission, led by Mr Dominic Agbanu, the District Electoral Officer, at a Delegates Congress at Awutu Bawjiase.
It was observed by the Central Regional Executives of the party.
There were a total of 442 delegates from 99 polling stations, including the immediate past executives of the party and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Hannah Serwah Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency.
Mr Isaac Acquah, who was elected Vice Chairman, got 146 votes, Mr Saleem Yartey, Secretary, polled 231 votes, Madam Matilda Sokpor, Women Organizer polled 40, Ms Jariatu Alhassan, Deputy Women Organizer polled 78, Mr. Yaovi Francis, Organizer polled 182 , and Mr. Andoh Ismaila Abdulai, Propaganda Secretary polled 245.
Other elected executives are: Mr Joseph Anderson, Treasurer ? 239 votes, Mr. Seth Asiedu, Deputy Propaganda -271 votes, Mr. Ato Dadzi, Deputy Treasurer- 320 votes. Mr Joseph Tetteh, Deputy Secretary and Ms Alberta Paintsil, Deputy Treasurer were elected unopposed.
Before the elections, the MP for the area, Madam Tetteh advised the delegates and the supporters to work in the interest of the party, irrespective of who the winners are.
Ms Ernestina Frimpong, Central Regional Women?s Organizer, later swore the newly-elected executives for the Constituency into office.
She advised them to work in accordance with the party?s constituency and forge ahead for the victory of the party in the 2016 general elections.
