Odartey Lamptey says he feels fulfilled to have played for Kotoko before hanging up his boots

Ex-Ghana international Odartey Lamptey says he feels fulfilled to have played for Kotoko before retiring from the game.

The former Anderlecht attacker signed for Kotoko in 2005 from UAE-based Al-Nasr.

He played an instrumental role in helping the Porcupine Warriors clinch their 18th Premier League crown in his first season.

However he endured some difficult times at the club where he suffered massive verbal abuse for his failure to translate his goal scoring form at the club.

But the 37-year-old says he is thrilled to have  achieve his long-cherished dream of playing for his boyhood club.

?Playing for Kotoko was a dream and I?m glad I achieved it. No amount of insults affected me,? Lamptey is quoted by 90 Minutes newspaper

?I wasn?t worried. When I was growing up in Kumasi, a lot of people did a lot good things for me and they are all Kotoko fans so playing for Kotoko was a way for me to thank them.

?I also didn?t play in Ghana because I only played for Corners U-20 before going to Europe so I wanted to play in the local league and I am happy I did.

?I am also proud because I won the league, President?s Cup and Otumfuo Cup during the time I played for Kotoko.?
