More than 4,500 suspects have been arrested as part of an ongoing law enforcement crackdown in Ethiopia’s Amhara regional state, regional officials have said.
Amhara Regional State Peace and Security Bureau Head Desalegn Tassew said among the arrested 4,500 individuals, some 210 were suspected of murder, state-affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) reported Monday.
According to Tassew, among the arrested also include individuals who had been sentenced to prison yet escaped during the TPLF occupation of parts of the Amhara region.
Tassew said the government will continue to strengthen its efforts to maintain lasting peace and order in the Amhara regional state, Ethiopia’s second populous region. Enditem
