The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has suspended hearing on the controversial settlement made to Construction Pioneers following the failure by the State Broadcaster to provide live coverage of proceedings.
The Attorney General Benjamin Kunbuor appeared before the Committee to explain the circumstance under which the government paid €94 million in settlement to CP.
But Joy News correspondent Sammy Darko reported the committee announced it will not proceed with the hearing because GTV is not ready to telecast the hearing live contrary to the normal practice.
According to the committee, the issues pertaining to the CP settlement saga are of immense national interest and ought to be shown live.
Sammy Darko who has been on the beat said GTV has covered live all the previous 18 sittings.
It is however unclear why it failed to show this particular hearing.
The hearing was expected to begin at 1:00 pm but Darko said the Committee realised that GTV was not prepared to carry the hearing live.
The State Broadcaster had only a camera for a late telecast of the event, a situation the committee described as untenable.
GTV was unable to explain why it was unable to provide live hearing of the event, Darko stated.
