Okiro Pledges to Promote Professionalism in Police

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Mike Okiro, has promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in enhancing professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force.
A statement issued by Ferdinand Ekpe, the PSC’s Assistant Director, Information, said that Okiro made the pledge when a delegation of the Nigeria-Turkish Chamber of Commerce paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
The statement quoted the PSC boss as also promising to work toward disabusing the minds of Nigerians in the Diaspora on the wrong impression that the country was witnessing a “precarious?? security situation that was inimical to investment.

He said that Nigeria was not the only nation facing security challenges, assuring investors adequate security.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the chamber, Dr Hyacinth Eze, congratulated Okiro on his appointment as the chairman of the commission. Eze said that the purpose of the visit was to inform the PSC chief of his appointment as an ambassador of the chamber.

He invited Okiro to Istanbul, Turkey, to deliver a keynote address on security challenges in Nigeria, during an investment conference, scheduled to take place between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24.
