He said there was the need for the concept to be extended to other parts of the country to make it more beneficial to majority of the people.
Mr. Oppong Asamoah, who launched the project in Accra on Tuesday, said, PUMA, the initiators of the project must seek stronger collaboration with the Ministry to give the project national character.
The Minister lauded PUMA and its partners including the Ghana Education Service (GES), for developing the concept.
Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, who is the School for Speed Ambassador, pledged his support for the project.
“These are the sort of innovations and partnerships we need to build sports structures, right from the grassroots
football,” he noted.
The concept of education and recreation falls in line with the Books & Boots Project which has been running in selected communities in Ghana.
Puma School of Speed is aimed at blending education and sports. It is aimed at encouraging the young generation take keen interest in academia through sports.
