
Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and ex-President Jerry John Rawlings has deflated expectations of some hawks who want President John Dramani Mahama to replace Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as his running-mate for the 2016 Presidential elections.
During the party?s 8th delegates congress in Kumasi, the NDC founder gave glowing accolades to Vice President Amissah-Arthur, saying Mr. Amissah-Arthur is a truthful man and Ghana needs more people like him.
In the last few months, there has been an orchestrated media report of a plot by some politicians scheming to edge out Vice President Amissah Arthur from being the running mate of President Mahama should he decides to seek a second term in 2016.
Attempts to deny Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur the chance of being the running mate to President Mahama for? the 2016 elcections has been essentially crushed by the highly influential founder of the NDC party Preisdent Rawlings.
He said? Mr Amissah Arthur had proven himself one who understood the essence of the 1979 and 1981 revolutions and appreciated history, despite the disagreements he had with him. Something former President Rawlings believes and considers very loyal.

Mr. Rawlings openly gave Mr Kwesi Amissah Arthur tons of commendations before millions of party members and sympathisers at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on the occasion of the NDC?s 8th National Delegates Congress.
He made reference to the Vice President?s address at the recent memorial service of the late Louis Casely Hayford (former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority), saying he fell in love with Mr Amissah Arthur suddenly.
President John Dramani Mahama, some few months ago registered his trust and confidence in Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amisssah-Arthur with special thanks for his huge role in the organization and participation of the just ended National Economic Forum (NEF) where he described the work of the Vice President as exemplary and the lead role by the Vice President before and during the forum has also come up for tonnes of commendation.
The duo went on to win the 2012 presidential elections, and have so far enjoyed a robust relationship. At?tempts by some people in the past to drive a wedge in their relationship had been met with utmost resistance, fending off accu?sations of duplicity and low political turpi?tude against Kwesi Amissah Arthur recently.
This paper?s sources confirmed that the President would after all have VP Amissah Arthur by his side as a running mate when he declares to run for 2016 because it is team work and you don?t change a winning team.
