HANDCUFFED! Pastor Gordon Yeboah stands by the pregnant sheep ‘wife’
PASTOR GORDON Yeboah, a self-styled evangelist who was caught red-handed having sexual intercourse with a pregnant sheep at Ampehia, near Abesim in the Brong Ahafo region, has been slapped with a 7-year jail term in hard labour.
The Fiapre Circuit Court, presided over by Benjamin Osei Yaw, yesterday convicted the pastor on his own plea.
Pastor Yeboah had pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge also restored the pregnant sheep which was also in court to the owner, Thomas Kumi.
The judge said he believed there was more to the action of the self-styled pastor than meets the eye.
According to the judge, he suspected it was “sakawa” and that the ‘Man of God’ was seeking supernatural powers to perform miracles in order to get fame and money.
Judge Osei Yaw advised the wife of the caged pastor, who was not in court though, not to have sex with the beleaguered pastor because he might infect her with strange diseases.
He noted that it was through some of those acts that brought about the deadly HIV.
The judge said the action of the self-styled pastor towards the pregnant sheep had killed his taste for meat, and would therefore eat only fish from now onwards.
He enquired whether the police had examined the accused to really establish whether he was a real human being.
Prosecuting, Inspector Ernest Nyarko Donyina said Yeboah, 20, a self-styled pastor, preached the word of God at Yeboakrom, near Nkrankrom in the Sunyani Municipality.
He told the court that on 9th February at about 5pm, Kwadwo Kumi, the complainant, a farmer from Asikasu, was returning from farm and upon reaching the outskirts of Ampehia, he heard the bleating of a sheep.
So he moved towards the direction of the bleating sheep and when he got closer to the action, he saw the accused person had raise the hind legs of the sheep apart and having sexual intercourse with it.
According to the investigator, the farmer got closer to the accused person and tapped him on the shoulder before the accused came back to his senses.
The pastor then pleaded with the farmer not to inform anybody about the act and that he would give him anything he the farmer wanted.
Inspector Donyina said during the pleading, the real owner of the sheep, Thomas Kumi, appeared on the scene and the two grabbed the pastor to the chief of Asikasu who directed them to send him to the police station
