SITA, a leading technology firm in the air transport sector, has announced the launch of its enhanced wireless solution, SITA Mobile Data Access (MDA) 2.0.
This advanced solution offers secure, reliable cellular eSIM and SIM connectivity across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, extending its reach to over 200 countries.
MDA 2.0 addresses the connectivity needs of airlines, airports, ground handlers, cruise and ship operators, and other entities requiring frequent roaming. It is also applicable for users operating within a single country.
The solution optimizes connectivity by selecting the most appropriate mobile operator for each device in different countries and manages data consumption through URL, IP, and country filtering while enhancing security.
Martin Smillie, Senior Vice President for Communications and Data Exchange (CDE) at SITA, emphasized the limitations of local mobile networks in providing comprehensive coverage and service level agreements crucial for aviation and transportation operations.
“Our customers require reliable, high-quality service and cost control on and off-site to ensure operational efficiency.
SITA MDA 2.0 delivers a seamless, secure, and cost-effective global connectivity solution,” Smillie stated.
MDA 2.0 connects with over 700 global roaming partners and features a dedicated online portal that consolidates multi-source information, traffic filtering for cost control, and round-the-clock support.
The solution offers flexible pricing models, including per-country, regional, or global options, putting you in control of your costs. It integrates seamlessly with SITA for Aircraft and SITA Airport solutions.
It supports various use cases, from pilot and crew tablet access to baggage scanner connections, aircraft maintenance data, SDWAN backup, and passenger processing, catering to your diverse needs.
The upgraded solution also benefits SITA’s growing customer base in the maritime sector, including cruise, ferry, and commercial shipping clients.
It has already been successfully implemented to replace an outdated solution for a ground-handling provider at a major airport in the Asia-Pacific region. It has enhanced global baggage tracking and reduced operational disruptions.
With the introduction of SITA MDA 2.0, the company continues to set the benchmark for global connectivity solutions, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency and reliability for its diverse clientele in the aviation and maritime industries.
