Sporting Kansas City have farmed out American-born Ghanaian Charles Sapong to lower division side Orlando City
American Major Soccer League side Sporting Kansas City have farmed out American-born Ghanaian forward Charles Sapong to lower-tier side Orlando City to gain more playing time.
The third-tier side have a partnership agreement with Sporting and the parties have reached an agreement that has allowed the 24-year-old and compatriot Kevin Ellis move on loan.
Orlando City who are pursuing promotion to the NASL believe Sapong has what it takes to propel the club to their ambitions.
And Sporting boss Peter Vermes explains the rationale behind the decision to send Sapong out on loan.
?This isn?t a demotion, this is an opportunity. A demotion is when you get cut from the team. This is an opportunity for those guys to get serious minutes of play in an extremely competitive environment, so that when they do come back here they are in form and in a routine,? he said.
Sapong made 14 appearances for Sporting and scored once before leaving on loan.
