Talk to any of the fans of OSAO F.C, who each day cling onto their training field fence, or sit precariously on the perimeter wall to watch their idols that STEPHEN OWUSU is not an ordinary player.
Born in Kumasi but migrated to the United States America to further his studies, it took just a short time for his talent to be spotted by officials of the club. Affectionately called ‘THUNDER’ by his fans because of his fierce shot and a wicked ability with set pieces. He primarily plays as an attacker and occasionally as a winger. He has been the catalyst for OSAO fc’s splendid run of for the past 2 seasons.
He might not be a household name among the Ghanaian football fraternity but is hugely endowed with instinct and an appreciable ability to find the back of the net. He dreams of donning the adorable colours of his motherland Ghana one day and also won?t miss the opportunity to play for Spanish giants Barcelona if the chance ever presents itself. Spyghana.com’s Henry Fordi caught up with the budding Ghanaian forward at his US Base. Read what the 25 year old Ghanaian footballer had to say about his career.
My name is Stephen but most of my funs call me thunder, I am the last born of my parents. I was born in Kumasi, the Ashanti region of Ghana. Football is a talent given to you by God, if you make good use of it by training hard and being discipline you will be successful. I chose football because I have the talent and I am discipline. My career started when I was a kid, I have played football from infancy till now. As a footballer you will pass through a lot of challenges especially getting good agent to find you a better team. Here in the States if you don?t finish university,
It?s very difficult to get a team. Right now I just play for me university team but we are doing well though. All my life I decided to serve my country, I wish to play for my country Ghana. My favorite position is forward, I like to play on the wings but I can score goals. My favorite club is Barcelona. I like how they play as a team. My football idol is Ronaldo from Brazil. ?I will like play for Barcelona one day because I want to play good football and also win trophies. I was named all American in 2season, goal king in 2season for OSAO F.C. My memorable day was when we went to the nationals and we lost by 1 goal. I was so sad and wanted this trophy for my team. I always talk to my mother and she prays for me before going to the game. I like dancing a lot and my favorite comedian is Kevin hurt. All I can say to my funs is that I thank them for supporting me to this far and they should keep on doing that. I want never let them down, God bless them all.
