GHANAIAN Cardinal at the Vatican, Peter Appiah Turkson, has lashed out at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in their pursuit of power. The outspoken priest of the Catholic Church could not fathom why members of the two parties have always resisted changes in our democratic walk at opposition and supported them in power.

CARDINAL Appiah Turkson, who was speaking at the 2011 Ghana Journalists Association Awards ceremony in Accra, lamented that this development could derail the peace the country is currently enjoying and make politicians a laughing stock in the country. He has therefore called for justice as a means of cementing the peace that the country has been crying for, especially in the run-up to the December polls.

HE also cited the passage of the Representation of the People?s Amendment Bill (ROPAB) as typical examples and lamented how politics is fast destroying the society Ghanaians suffered and built together.?We living here in Ghana saw and knew the moment when the registration of diaspora voters was first mooted in the Parliament of the NDC, NPP opposed it only to get to power and moot the same idea, and this time NDC which had mooted it first opposed it,? Cardinal Turkson recalled.

WE at Today agree with most of the things that Cardinal Appiah Turkson said at the GJA Awards ceremony. In fact, we as media practitioners are also guilty in the promoting of the NDC and NPP blame game syndrome which is not in any way affecting the lives of the masses positively. We can add that the NDC and NPP blame-game syndrome is impoverishing the ordinary Ghanaian the more when there are basic problems that concern this nation which need to be addressed.

THESE days you have so-called senior journalists and hosts of radio station doing the bidding of the NDC and the NPP. Such senior practitioners in the inky fraternity who are supposed to champion the course of the ordinary Ghanaians are openly seen fronting for the so-called two parties to win power all because of their vested interest.

FOR us at Today we think that our so-called senior journalists can do a better job by channeling their energies by impressing on our politicians to think Ghana first before anything else. Their actions have given politicians of the so-called two parties the leverage to take the Ghanaian for granted and think that Ghana belongs to only the NDC and the NPP.

WE at Today hope that hosts of radio stations and our senior colleagues will reflect on what Cardinal Appiah Turkson has said and begin to champion the course of Ghanaians many of whom continue to remain poorer and poorer.
