Toshiba is positioning its FFSATM solutions as a new choice for custom LSI development to help customers optimize their system design and to enable timely product expansion.
This was announced when NEC Corporation (NEC) moved to the commercial production phase of its iPASOLINKTM high capacity microwave communication equipment for mobile networks, after the Corporation adopted the Toshiba FFSATM (Fit Fast Structured Array) flexible custom LSI solution, for its water-resistant, durable, compact microwave system.
The new technology which NEC has signed onto will enable it to expand the adoption of FFSATM to other iPASOLINKTM systems.
According to Mr. Atsushi Noro, Deputy General Manager, Mobile Wireless Solutions Division, NEC changing from conventional FPGAs to a FFSATM, will give the Corporation an upper hand in achieving high performance with low-power consumption, as well as a timely product launch to address the needs of the quickly growing mobile network.
