Voting in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ayawaso East Constituency primaries in the Greater Accra started peacefully and orderly.

As at 0800 hours, delegates were in their numbers clad in NDC colours, chanting and drumming to herald the voting .

Mr Olabode Williams, Vice Secretary for Ayawaso East Constituency, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday, said he envisaged successful voting expressed the hope that the winner would be accepted by all.

Mr Williams noted that voting started at 1200 hours instead of 0900 hours, citing late arrivals of candidates as reasons for the delay.

The election was being supervised by the Electoral Commission under heavy Police presence to ensure peace and order.

Dr Mustapah Ahmed the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Abdul Rashid Haruna, Gedel M. Ahmed, lecturer at Accra Polytechnic and Naser Mahama Toure are vying to represent the NDC in the 2012 parliamentary elections for the Ayawaso East Constituency seat. GNA
