What’s the Fastest Cure for Breakup Pain?

The fastest cure for breakup pain is to make some big life altering changes.  I know this can be a difficult time for you.  This is how a typical day goes for someone who is going through a messy breakup.  See if any of this relates to you.

You have a tough time just getting out of bed.  Everything seems to be running in slow motion and the easiest tasks feel like you have 30 pound weights on each arm.  Now, depending on the individual, some people can eat more and some people will eat less.  My suggestion is that you must find that sweet spot of doing both.  Healthy food is always the way to go because right now your body is losing valuable nutrients from the stress.

Don’t feel like you need to indulge in chocolates, ice-cream or alcohol.  It’s a downward spiral if you take this route.

Start looking for hard-core physical activities to point your energies elsewhere.  Take a martial arts class.  You can beat out your aggression on some poor soul legally in these settings.  Give yourself lofty goals like training for a marathon, finally learning how to swim or taking just hop on a bike and ride.

Whatever you do it must be big and grand.  Remember the dreams you had as a child.  They were huge in imagination and you had nothing to worry about.  That’s what you need to try to achieve again.

Travel is in my opinion the greatest healer of breakup pain.  Everything is stimulated at once.  Your mind and body will need to work together to get a good travel plan going.  Go for something grand.  Have you ever thought of backpacking Europe?  Go for it.  Rent an RV and travel cross country.  Take some long lost friends that you haven’t seen in years.

Just remember to have fun.  You don’t need to necessarily forget about you past.  As long as you embraced that it was there, your breakup will slowly feel more like a learning experience.

Don’t hate your ex.  Your ex has nothing to with your situation.  I know that’s hard to believe but it’s true.  Only your reality is what controls your fate.  Whatever your reality is your heart will become.

One of the most common questions I get regarding mending heartache is how long will it take?  This is really hard to answer because everyone has a different situation but the best I can say is that take the time you have been “in love” and divide it in half.  That’s how long it will usually take.  But remember it depends on the individual.  Sometimes it can take a few weeks, a few months, a few years and sometimes you can never “heal”.  You will carry the scars forever; there is no doubt about that.  But believe one day you’ll look back and say to yourself, “what a ride that was”.

You will be a different person by then and you won’t understand why you were so hung up on your ex in the first place.  This happens to every single person.  Now it’s your time to share your experiences and help someone that is going through some rough times.
