X will retire its creator revenue-sharing programme on 7 September and replace it with a new scheme that rewards original content over reposted material, the platform said.
X stopped accepting new applications to the existing Revenue Sharing programme on 7 August. Creators already enrolled will keep earning under the old system until 7 September, with a final payout expected around 11 September, after two standard payouts on 14 and 28 August.
Allegra Jacchia, who leads creator partnerships at X, said the old programme’s “incentives were misaligned,” pushing some creators to repurpose existing content rather than produce original work. She said the company chose to build a new programme from scratch, designed from the outset to reward originality rather than repeated fixes to the old system.
Under the new programme, payouts will be based on qualified impressions from verified X Premium subscribers viewing original posts on the Home Timeline, with at least half the post visible. Paid, promoted or artificially generated impressions will not count, X said.
Eligible content includes threads, videos, memes, original reporting, analysis, commentary, photographs and illustrations, as well as posts that meaningfully transform existing material through original narration, humour or editing, according to X.
Existing Revenue Sharing participants will get first access to apply for the new programme starting 8 September, X said, with eligible creators required to be at least 18, hold a Premium subscription, and have at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions over 90 days.
The first payments under the new programme are scheduled for 28 August, and creators who enrol from 8 September are expected to receive their first payment on 25 September. Applicants rejected from the programme can appeal once and reapply after 90 days if they continue to meet the criteria.
