My 1st Day At School: Classrooms Blocks In Deployable Stage

Many Public schools in the Upper West Akim District ? Adeiso as capital in the Eastern Region are in deployable stage since it was build in the early 1900s, as it may easily collapse when heavy rain and wind storm, many has cracks walls, broken windows, doors, rooms not cemented, no cupboards fill with books, no enough furniture, no toilets facilities and among others which most Heads of the schools share worried.

10th?September, 2013 been my first day at school, the DCE for the Upper West Akim District Hon Asifu Derick Bekoe and the District Director of Education Miss Felicia Boakye Yiadom with some heads of Departments together with some media personals tour nine Public Primary schools in the district such as Adeiso Presby School, Mempom Presby, Abamkrom Methodist ,?Kwasi Nyarko Presby, Adeiso Anglican, Odumkyere Darmang Presby, Domeabra L/A, Asuotwene R/C Primary and Asuokaw Islamic Primary to visit the KG newly enrolled pupils.

At the various centers, the team visit, Heads of the school who were present in the schools were very happy to see the DCE and the Education Director paying them a visits, and explore many of their challenges to the media such are reduction of the pupils enrollment due to the shift system, inadequate infrastructures, uncompleted school blocks, and many others.

 

The District Director of Education Miss Felicia Yiadom donates,one exercise book, crayons, biscuits, soft drinks, pencils, erasers, and school bags to each KG and Primary 1 pupil where by the pupils gathered in one class room at today been my first day at school with their parents and teachers while as the enrollment was good as expected.

When the team storm Abamkrom Methodist JHS while 42 pupil were present, there was a newly constructed 6 unit classroom block with an office, store room and an ICT laboratory, while the school blocks vast in deplorable stage as there was cracks on the wall, no staff urinal, flood take over when it rains and flow through the classrooms, windows and doors broken, which yield headache on the headmaster Atitso Stanley and the assemblyman Hon Henry Nyani after all efforts has been made to get the school fixed in well good conditions.

The District Director of Education Miss Felicia Yiadom??express her thoughts on how the government is doing its best to better quality education for Ghanaians, by urging and appealing to the parents to cater for their wards as they will become the future leaders when interacting with them.

Miss Yiadom advice the pupisl to study hard to become good learners and future leaders in order to help the progress of the country, and averred that the Ministry of Education is putting measures in place to endure that quality and better Education and will make sure the best and better candidates will be chosen from the Upper West Akim District.

The DCE Hon Derick Bekoe in an interview said there are more plans on board from the Assembly to yield the communities challenges such as shaping of feeder roads, portable water, security, healthcare, school projects, markets, lorry station, and among others which will benefit the members to earn a better living.

Hon Bekoe averred that he was very much excited in the school visited, all because most schools were surprise to see them there as these was the first time to visit such school and assure that, as the district been newly created, has challenges and financial crisis but will endure to deploy more projects especially school infrastructures, and will implement policies and initiatives which will benefit it members through the decentralization urban policy system.
