OPC leader again offers state police as the panacea to our security problems

The leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Gani Adams, has said that the creation of police forces administered by each state would help to reduce insecurity in the country.
Speaking in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State on Saturday, Adam said such police would be advantageous as members of such forces would have better knowledge of their environment than strangers from other states.
“I am one of the advocates of state police because I believe in it. If we have state police, insecurity in the country will reduce drastically because people who live in their environment will know how to track down criminals better.
“For instance, bringing a police officer from another state to secure Lagos State might not be the best solution,” he said.
According to him, criminals must have done a lot of havoc before the police from another state even start to study the nooks and crannies of the new state.
“He will make sure that he did not do anything that would tarnish the image of the state.”
