While giving his report during the general stakeholders? meeting Tuesday at Sabrina?s hotel on Kampala Road, the chairman Kisekka Market governing board, Kisembo Robert, expressed concern that the two-year ultimatum KCCA gave them to show commitment has only a few months left before the Authority takes over.

He said that they had signed a $23m agreement with Roko Construction Company in March for them to begin the first phase of construction in a period of 22 months.

?We had agreed to give them a deposit of 25% equal by end of May which deadline passed because the shareholders delayed paying their shares,? he explained.

The vice chairpersion, Nalubwama Hadijja, also noted that part of the first phase of construction had begun by fencing off the land along Nakivubo Road plot 9A and ground excavation which will be followed by erecting concrete poles the moment they raise the 25% deposit.

In this meeting the traders also resolved that whoever fails to pay their shares within 30 days, will be forced to sell off their membership in the Kisekka Market company.

?Meanwhile the traders have also mandated us as leaders to solicit for more funding from capable institutions by mortgaging our lease to raise the remaining 75% in time,? chairman Kisembo said.

They also agreed to fire one of their board members and company directors Kalungi Mubarrack from his position as director accusing him of siding with people that are against the mega project.

Meanwhile the public relations officer of Kisekka Market, Peter Lubwama, urged traders to get more serious and seize listening to people opposing the project because their aim is to see KCCA taking over.
