Since last month, the Congolese army, supported by UN peacekeepers, launched operations against ADF, a group that has already killed thousands of people in Beni territory, North Kivu province.

In Ituri province, 10 militia fighters of the Ituri Patriotic Resistance Front (FRPI) were killed on Monday during a confrontation between the army and attackers of Kienge village, within Walendu Bindi locality.

Military sources said the fighting began when the army launched an operation to dismantle positions of militia who wanted to regroup in this part of Ituri province.

In his statement, Azukayi said the rebels were trying to regroup to multiply attacks against the civilian population. Enditem
