We are grateful to the Omnipotent God for ushering us into a New Year. The previous year was fraught with myriad challenges which affected all facets of the economic life of the country. Forecasts from economists do not give us cause for elation. It is a prediction which demands that we braze up for further belt-tightening.
The erratic electricity supply compelled us as it did other consumers of power, to rely on fossil fuel to run our generators. With the exorbitant cost of this power source, it would be hypocritical to pretend that all was well especially since cost of production shot up astronomically. In spite of the inclement situation, we have soldiered on and landed safely on 2015.
The gloomy picture notwithstanding, we would continue, God willing, to contribute our quota to national development as we have always done by reporting the news as they unfold, entertain and educate our compatriots and others beyond the shores of Ghana through the internet to the best of our ability.
The national interest and the enhancement of democracy in the country would continue to be the cornerstone of our operations. We would not be inhibited in our resolve to present what serves the best interest of the country, no matter whose ox is gored and in that direction, we can count on the support of you our esteemed readers.
We are grateful to our teeming readers for the support of the previous year and pray that they would continue to repose confidence in us as we weather the storm of turbulent economic times to churn out the DAILY GUIDE. It is this confidence which has kept us going even when things get tough.
We have had countless words of encouragement from all angles, including political parties. To all of them we doff our hats and promise them even better service in the interest of mother Ghana.
Our doors will remain open as they have always been, for the good counsel of our patrons who have not wavered in their admonitions when we goof or excel. After all we are humans and therefore fallible.
Even as we resolve to ply our occupation we enjoin our compatriots to consider the bigger picture, which is Ghana, by thinking about what we all can do for our motherland. This way we can change the fortunes of the country and make it one worth living in and dying for if need be.
The state of hopelessness pervading the country should give way to hopefulness. This we know can only be when our leaders show sincerity in their commitment to discharge their duties with utmost nationalistic fervor and the readiness of the citizenry to die a little for their country ? a symbiotic relationship somewhat.
We wish all our compatriots, especially our esteemed readers, Godspeed as we tread the path of 2015.
