Mr. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, has congratulated the playing body and technical team of Kotoku Royals following their qualification to the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Kotoku Royals, after securing last week, became the first club from the Akyem Kotokuman area to play in Ghana’s elite division.
Speaking during a round-table meeting with the players and technical team in Accra, Mr. Acquah was elated with the team’s qualification to the GPL and urged them to work hard to sustain the Premier League for a long period.
“I want to first thank other MPs from the Akyem Parliamentary Caucus for supporting the team in diverse ways, which propelled qualification to the GPL.
“As you embark on this journey, you should remember that you are n ot alone and the people of Kotokuman are solidly behind you,” he said.
He further noted that they would start preparing to get Oda Stadium in good shape so that it meets the requirements of the Club Licensing Board of the Ghana Football Association.
Formed in 2003, Kotoku Royals became the 100th club to play in Ghana’s elite division, having started their journey from Division Three (2007), Division Two (2009), and Division One (2014-2021).
