A leading member and twice defeated flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo, was spotted in the late hours of last Friday at the VVIP Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport in Accra while going through boarding procedures on a business-class London-bound British Airways flight. Nana Addo was seen in the company of his wife, Rebecca and Capt. Korda, his security aide. A source close to the family hinted that Nana Addo is scheduled for a medical attention in the UK and hence no need for his outfit to issue a statement to inform his teeming supporters.
A lot of suspicion has been in the minds of many for the 2012 presidential aspirant on the ticket of the largest opposition party in Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo?s recent disturbing deteriorating looks after his several unclear postponement of his return to Ghana following his long stay in the UK months after the Supreme Court ruling on the 2012 election results. It would be recalled that Nana Akufo Addo took leave from the ?hurly burly? of politics to seek the face of God in the UK on his next direction. Nana Addo overspent his three month?s stay by an extra three months in the UK fanning lots of suspicion about the fitness of the 70 year old ?young man?.
Since his return to Ghana in March this year, this happens to be the fourth time Nana Addo is moving out of Ghana for medical attention. The source however insisted that these medical checks are normal with his age. He sturdily posited that ?C1 (coded name for Nana Addo ? meaning Candidate 1) is as fit as a fiddle. Nana is strong!? He is expected to come back to Ghana on Friday June 28th, the source stated.
Until the death of the former President, H.E John Atta Mills who pending his assumption into office as President of the Republic of Ghana had news making round that he was unfit, the health status of prospective presidents has become a cause of worry to many Ghanaians. Though he has not made much public appearances since his return to Ghana, Nana Addo was last seen at the party headquarters when he went to pick up his form to contest for the fourth time as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.
