HE Gov. Peter Obi today presented cheques to mission primary schools with a view to supporting accelerated education. ?The event took place at the Women Development Center, Awka during the official presentation titled “Accelerating Progress in the Attain of Education for all in Anambra State.”?The programme is aimed at pushing the final phase of the MDGs, ahead of the 2015 target date. Though targeted directly at the education goal, the accelerated programme will also tackle poverty reduction and healthcare delivery. ?MDGs target date approaches, the international community is already looking at the post-2015 scenario and articulating the platform for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ?In all, the government disbursed N600 million to Anglican Primary schools and N860 million to Catholic Primary schools.
Speaking to ?media after the event, SSG Oseloka Obaze noted this final push would ensure that Anambra States would meet the target of several core MDG goals by 2015. Furthermore, ?it would assist the incoming Administration to hit the ground running.
