
The All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the rescheduled Niger East Bye-election at the Kampanin Babangana polling Unit (code 004) Beji in Bosso Local Government Area the home of the Deputy Chairman of the Niger state PDP, Barrister Tanko Beji.
The APC Senatorial candidate Barrister David Umaru got 209 votes to defeat the PDP candidate Dr Shem Nuhu Zagbayi who got only 78 votes.
The polling unit which had more than 100 security agencies drawn from the Nigerian Police Force, State Security Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Nigerian Vigilante Group ensured very tight security.
At the Kampanin Babangana polling units 649 voters registered with 330 accredited
288 turned out for voting at the voting points where APC got 209 votes and the PDP 78 votes. Only 1 vote was invalid.
Top politicians in the state who were present at the highly rated Beji area are APC State chairman Mohammed Jibrin, PDP Deputy chairman Tanko Beji, member House of Representatives Hon. Umaru Bago, Bawa Bosso, Commissioners of Sports Yusuf Garba Tagwai, Transport Mahmud Kpakol, Housing Dr. Peter Sariki and Chairperson Bosso Local government area Hajia Ladidi.
The Six local government areas rescheduled for the bye-election are Munya, Chanchaga, Paikoro, Shiroro, Rafi and Bosso
