“The National Road Safety Week is a necessary campaign aimed at raising awareness on issues of road safety and consequences of road accidents,” he said when he launched the campaign in Cotonou.

Every year, Benin records an average of 5,000 accidents with over 700 people killed and close to 6,000 others injured, without considering the lost properties and the damage caused on road infrastructures as well as vehicles.
“These accidents are always linked to carelessness of drivers, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, poor state of roads and unroadworthy vehicles as well as fatigue of drivers,” he said.
The 2015 edition of the National Road Safety Week is centered on the theme “Youth and Road Safety: Parental Responsibility.” Enditem
