The incident occurred when the factions from the Nii Arde Nkpa Family of Plerno and supporters of Nii Din, the supposed Headman whose installation ceremony was being carried, clashed at the event.

The development, according to information, was against several legal attempts by heads of the Nii Arde Nkpa Family to halt such coronation since it was illegal.
Information reaching this paper indicates that, Nii Ayinsa Sasraku III, Rev, Nii Tackie Tagoe, Jackson Otabil and Moses Asase have teamed up with the clandestine guidance of the James Town Mantse, Nii Kojo Ababio V to install Nii Din as the headman of the Nii Arde Nkpa Family of Plerno and Kokrobite.

Meanwhile, the faction which make the arrangements for his installation had several court injunctions placed on them including a suit in Court against the same installation.
It has been gathered that the people who planned the said installation were settlers at Kokrobite who have over the years integrated themselves to the Nii Arde Nkpa family.

Also, Nii Din, the proposed candidate for installation, according to information gathered, hails from Senya Bereku in the Central Region and therefore not qualified to occupy the position as Headman/Chief of Kokrobite to oversee the family’s interests.
To ensure peace, heads and members of the Nii Arde Nkpa family have led by Nii Arde Nkpa VII, Plerno Mantse filed a writ in the High Court praying the Court to the attempt by the Defendants to install a Headman null and void since those who planned the installation lack the capacity to do so.

According to the Writ filed on Nov. 6, 2014, the Plaintiffs seeks in their reliefs, a declaration that the 5th Defendant, Nii Din is not qualified to be appointed a Headman.
They also sought for an interlocutory injunction restraining the Defendants from carrying out any such to appoint since they lack capacity.

According to them, the Headman is accountable to Nii Arde Nkpa Family, the family represented by the reigning chief has the sole preserve to appoint the person who he thinks is worthy of such an appointment.
The writ also has it that, since the value of land having appreciated owing to the upsurge in development of residential properties, the issue of who becomes the headman become an interesting issue, hence the inordinate plan by the Defendants to foist someone as the headman.

According to the Plaintiffs, “in spite of the recent disqualification of the 1st and 2nd Defendants (Nii Ayinsa Sasraku II and Rev, Nii Tackie Tagoe) as the Dzaasetse and the head of family respectively, they are poised to subvert the time-honoured prerogative of the 1st Plaintiff by scheming to have someone other than the rightful person appointed as the headman in order to have influence over the disposition of the family lands in spite of their fallen statuses in the family.”

The Plaintiffs also stated in the writ that in order to achieve their ill intents, the Defendants in their desperations appoint Nii Din in contravention of the preserve of Nii Arde Nkpa VII role of appointment.
However, the said installation which was held amid several disagreements did not end well, as it resulted in some fatalities, and the death of Davton who was stabbed in cold blood.
The Nii Arde Nkpa Family is therefore calling on the security forces to ensure peace in the area and also expressed confidence in the court to expedite ruling on the case before it and give judgement in their own wisdom for total peace to prevail.
