The member representing the Anambra East/West Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Mr Chris Cato Ameke may have shelved his quest to return to his position in 2015.

This indication was given at Otuocha yesterday at a consultative meeting ahead open campaigns for the next year’s general elections organized by a group under the aegis of Omamballa Political Emancipation Forum(OPEF).
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the group’s chairman and spokesperson, Chief Maduabuchi Okadigbo mooted that Ameke may have shelved his ambition for which he recently decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to Gov Willie Obiano’s All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA). The move, he pointed out was with the aim to make his(Ameke’s)chances brighter and almost sealed.
Incidentally, the poor showing of the lawmaker in the last three years in the National Assembly has successfully swayed Obiano to shift his support to a new face, thereby giving Ameke an instant political black eye. OBIANO was reported to be backing Mrs Edith Ejezie, a suave politician and daughter of Aguleri who is married to Ichie Mike Ejezie, a Lagos-based business man former state chairman/governorship candidate of All Nigerian Peoples Party(ANPP) in the state, from Ihiala.
Also among those shut out was Chinedu Obidigwe, the former Transition Committee chairman for Anambra East Council who was itching to go to the National Assembly too.
But contending it was now the turn of Anambra West, Mr Sunny Nwassah said that it was expected that naturally West would be allowed to produce the candidate this time. That it was based on the premise Barr John Mbanefo Ikwuegbo, Barr Peter Obiano Madubueze and Alex Okeke, all active, capable staunch members of APGA have come out offering themselves for service in the National Assembly.
He pray that Gov Obiano, being a beneficiary of equity, would allow West LGA to produce the next member of House of Representatives for the area. He noted that there is growing disquiet against stuffing every available position with persons of a particular stock and also against the move by Ameke to return especially against the backdrop of his very poor performance so far.
Some placard carrying citizens rooted for West, denouncing Ejezie, Ameke and any move by Obiano to foist anyone from the East council on the area. They described it as a true acid test for the governor who was accused of continuing the age long fratricidal war in the area subtly with his pattern of appointments.
