The police Criminal Investigations Department has yet to submit its findings on alleged assassination attempts against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, more than eight months after the probe was ordered.

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak disclosed the delay on Monday, saying he personally pressed the Inspector General of Police on the matter last week. He told reporters the IGP’s office had “promised that they are coming up with a report,” and that the Ministry would act once it receives the findings.

The Ministry ordered two separate investigations in December 2025, one into claims that Agyebeng survived two assassination attempts while in office and another into a claim by the OSP’s Director of Strategy, Research and Communications, Samuel Appiah Darko, that he was handcuffed and assaulted by 17 police officers. Both claims surfaced when Darko made them on Newsfile on December 6, 2025.

The Ministry’s own position on the assassination claim has been skeptical from the start. Within 48 hours of Darko’s comments, it said preliminary checks turned up no record of any such threat at any police station or state security agency, and that any alleged attempts on Agyebeng’s life would have occurred before 2025. It ordered the investigation anyway, saying “crime does not expire.”

More than eight months after promising to update the public once the investigations concluded, the Ministry says it is still waiting on the CID’s report.
