At least 300 men wearing Ugandan army uniform have entered villages in Beni territory in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), the territory’s administrator Amiso Kalonda said Friday.
“The men wearing Uganda’s army uniform entered the country on Thursday and settled in Kalehaleha, Kalindera and Mumbiri villages, ” Kalonda said.
Another group from Butama military camp in Uganda’s Bundibudjo district, entered Kilindera village, he said.
According to him, these armed men crossed the DR Congo border through Uganda’s Kasese district.
The Beni territorial administrator said the first group entered the country on Tuesday through Kalehaleha district.
A source from the Congolese National Intelligence Agency, who did not wish to be named, told Xinhua the men in Ugandan army uniform had come to support a certain rebel movement in the region. Enditem
