He said many individuals out of selfish gains are driven to set up privately owned businesses rather than coming together in groups to operate with a common interest.
Mr Kwaku Asubonteng was speaking at the end of a week’s training held for seven members of the Ghana Federation of Disabled in Dormaa – Ahenkro, who received training in leather works in sandals and slippers production.
The MCE pledged the support of the Assembly to the beneficiaries, thanking the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) and the Social Welfare Department for their advisory role played towards ensuring the empowerment of the trainees.
Mr Daniel Sena, the Dormaa Municipal Director of the Business Advisory Centre, appealed to the beneficiaries to apply to the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for funds to help expand their businesses.
He said the second part of the training would be organized towards the end of the year, stressing his outfit would closely monitor their activities in the work.
Mr Appiah Rubbin on behalf of the trainees thanked the BAC for their contribution in helping to improving their situation and helping to uplift their socio-economic status.
He called on authorities to assist them in financial terms to enable them to purchase the needed tools and material for their work.
