Death of Ibadan Traders To Be Investigated

The House of Representatives on Thursday urged the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, and the Army to investigate the killings of 10 Ibadan traders in Muguna, Borno State.
The House said the investigation became necessary in order to arrest the killers of the traders as well as ensure justice.
It also urged the Federal Government to beef up security in Borno, especially in public places like the market and places of worship.
It further called on the Federal Government to compile the lists of all Boko Haram victims in order to compensate their families.
The resolutions followed a motion by Rep. Ajibola Muraina (PDP-Oyo), which was unanimously adopted without debate when put to vote by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Emeka Ihedioha.
The motion is entitled: “Gruesome Killing of Ibadan Traders in Borno by members of Boko Haram??.
Muraina said that Ibadan traders were on July 4, attacked by persons alleged to be members of the Boko Haram sect.
He said that 10 of the traders were killed and several millions of Naira was stolen from them in the gruesome attack.
The lawmaker expressed concern that this attack took place in spite of the emergency rule in the state.
He further expressed concern that there were no adequate measures to safeguard lives and properties of citizens in the affected states.
The lawmaker urged members to support the motion to increase security in Borno.
