Delta, Edo, Lagos and Oyo states have all qualified for the semifinals of the Vicor Ochei International Wheelchair Basketball competition in Lagos.
The tournament, in its third edition, has gone off without a hitch in Lagos.
The Lagos team topped group A and will face Edo who were first in group C, while group B winners take on Oyo from group D for a place in the final.
“They can’t stop us from reaching the final,” said a confident Osa Kelvin from the Edo State team.
“We have prepared for them and the fact is that they don’t have great players again, so we will beat them. The margin won’t be much but we will win.”
Meanwhile, Ayinde Balogun, the Lagos State coach, was more measured in his interview.
“We take each game as it comes. Edo is a good team and so for now I can’t say that we will or will not beat them. All I will say is that tomorrow, you will see action,” said Balogun, whose team has scored a total of 142 points in three matches.
