Three days ago, after the BET Award Winner, Sarkodie released his new song which he calls Free Press, where he made a lot of comments concluding that the media in Ghana is not supporting our own artistes which is a lie so we at GhJoy sent a letter to Sarkodie telling him how disappointed we are with those lyrics.

Not ending there, Sarkodie thinks he mentioned no ones name in the song so yesterday morning, he wrote this on his timeline WHO THE CAP FIT #BOB MARLEY.

This tweet indicates, he mentioned no ones name in the song so who ever the message is sent to knows himself. This is an indirect reply to the letter we sent. This morning, as a fan of Sarkodie, i always visit his timeline to check if he has any new project for a fan like me and to my surprising, Sarkodie is thanking the media after he said we are not supportive.

See tweet below.

Wanna say a big thank u to God, My fans(family), My team and also the Media(wink) 😆 😆 lol but still free press!

However, we have no feeling of uncertainty that Sarkodie has read the letter deeply and he has realized how strong the media in Ghana is.
Sarkodie is the only musician in Ghana who has enjoyed from the media than his colleagues so saying we are not supporting him and his friends is a way to prove how ungrateful he can be to the media in Ghana.

We love him (no homo) just because he is hardworking and very sensible that is why we have all devoted our platforms to give him the push he wants. Furthermore, no media man in Ghana will deny working for Sarkodie and follow him to those events he was talking about (that is only if he pays us because we media men have bills to pay)

After our hardwork all in the name of promoting his projects on our various platforms, some of us especially bloggers go to the extra mile of taking links of Sarkodie from our blogs and sharing it on WhatsApp for the groupies there to enjoy, but at the end of the day we got nothing from him but an insult. 90% of those in the media including myself didnt smile when we heard those lyrics and that is why i sent him the letter to read.

He has read our letter over and over and we believe he has thought about it well and has realized that, though we are not on MTV, BBC and the rest, our underground works on him is much effective than those over there no matter what, we are the basis.

After we sent him the letter, some readers and so called fans verbally abused us but we care zero because we understand showbiz and at the end of the day, the only result we were looking for is to get Sarkodie read what we felt about his song but not to worry about comments from others.

TO SARKODIE………

The love Ghana media has for you is very huge, you cant deny the fact that we talk about you a lot and we dont do that because we need traffic directed to our blogs. HELL NO!!!, there are a lot of ways to gain traffic on our blogs if i should say, you can ask any blogger closer to you if posting about you is the only way we can get traffic.

We are proud of you because you work hard. What you said by comparing us to journalists on MTV is below our belt. Some of us prefer working for ourselves than working for other companies. I have worked for great companies yet i chose working on my own when i got my personal office. I have declined a lot of offers because there is nothing good in a firm than to be your own C.E.O. You do things the way you like, you are not limited by anyone, and so on and so forth.

Yesterday, Chris Vincent of Ghanacelebrities.com made the same statement of not working for those companies even if offered millions of dollars. So you see, dont think that low for us. Some of us are okay with our work and if for nothing, it is this same work that provides our three square meal and pay our bills.

Dream big things for us because we dont dream less for you. We are waiting for you to win a GRAMMY and that is something huge you know that.

Aside that, come to think of this, if journalists in Ghana are all on MTV,CNN and more as you said in the song, do you think we will sacrifice working for you for free? You know that is a NO answer because it will definitely come with a fee or package.

You should cherish our work because we cherish yours. Support us because we support you. You have a show in U.K, we believe you have charged them, have you thought of paying us with some of the money that was paid to you? Booking flights for some of so that we follow you to U.K to cover up the event? It comes back to the same answer, NO – You havent done all that, and yet still you are expecting us to follow you for free. You think you the only one who loves money 😆 If we should follow you for free then why dont you perform for free too.

No media man will follow a superstar like Jay Z, Rick Ross, Akon and more if they are going to a different country for an event that isnt paying the media. You and your team should have thought about this lyrics well before getting to Tema Community 1, PossiGee’s studio to record that attack on us. Let me ask this, what at all is stopping you from paying a journalist who will follow you to events? Is it because you are penny-pinching? These are all part of branding if you dont know, your team or management should have told you before telling us what to do.

In conclusion, there is a saying, the devil you know is better than the angel you dont know. No matter what, we are the second basis, we contributed in your hype, fame and awards, you cant throw us away and go for people on MTV, you will still come back to us trust me. We made you get to stage 1, we are working on putting you on stage 2, and remember, we need each other but you need us more than we need you.

Also, It is about time your fellow friends recognize our hard-work especially we that are in control of this online hype. Tell them to respect our works because we are our own bosses like Bill Gates is. We post about who we want so if they are sitting somewhere expecting us to write about them when they dont respect us, I am sorry to say this it will take them years and not even a story with a tag will come with their name. If they need us they should know how to contact us. As you said in Free Press, its all about connects not the song. They can record the best songs in the world but if we are not given the due respect we wont dedicate our platforms to them. At least your FREE PRESS has served as a lesson to us. We dont run a charity work so if they need us, they should know how to contact us.

That is all we have to say. Thanks for congratulating us after all. You are still the man, more Greece to your elbow. Keep making Ghana proud. But the next time you are sending a letter to the media, think of it thrice.

Have a fruitful day.
