Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has appealed to Mercy Johnson following the arrest of fellow actress Angela Okorie, urging her to show compassion and reconsider the situation. In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Ogala admitted mixed feelings when she first heard about Angela’s detention at Suleja Correctional Centre near Abuja.

Ogala acknowledged past conflicts with Okorie but said she could not remain silent while her colleague remained in custody. “Has Angela offended me? Yes. Has she hurt me? Yes. At some point, I was even happy she was arrested. But this is not me,” she said in the video. According to her, prison was not the right place for her colleague regardless of what happened.

The actress directed most of her plea to Johnson, whom she repeatedly praised. “Mercy, you are a good person. This is not you. I beg you, please forgive her,” Ogala stated. She revealed deep disturbance since the incident began, describing Angela as her sister despite past insults. “Since yesterday, I’ve been disturbed. I know she insulted me too, but she is my sister,” she explained.

Ogala stressed that her appeal came from genuine conviction rather than public pressure. “This is not me pretending. I’m begging you from my heart,” she said. The plea follows Angela’s arrest on January 27, 2026, at her Lagos residence by Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Cybercrime Centre operatives. She was transported to Abuja and remanded after court proceedings on January 28.

Court documents reveal Angela faces charges of criminal defamation and cyberstalking over social media posts allegedly describing Johnson as a blood sucking demon and making witchcraft accusations. Justice Emeka Nwite ordered her detention at Suleja Correctional Facility pending a bail hearing scheduled for January 30. Her legal team, led by Alex Ejesieme Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), fought unsuccessfully for immediate bail.

Reports indicate Ogala later shared an update claiming Johnson promised Angela’s release on January 30, 2026. “Mercy Johnson has listened to my plea and assured me that Angela Okorie will be released,” Ogala posted on Thursday night, January 29. She expressed gratitude to Johnson, describing her as a supportive friend who responded to her emotional appeal.

The ongoing feud between Angela and Mercy dates back to 2025, when Angela made serious accusations against her colleague on social media platforms. Industry observers note this case highlights growing legal consequences for online disputes among Nigerian celebrities, with cyberstalking laws increasingly enforced against high profile individuals.
