
An Italian journalist has a won a leading German human rights award for his reporting on abuses of refugees in Italy and Europe.
Fabrizio Gatti’s “investigative reports on blatant human rights abuses involving refugees in Italy and in other hot spots in Europe represent a special contribution to public awareness of the plight of asylum-seekers,” said Pro Asyl, announcing its 2014 award.
The human rights prize, which is to be awarded on Saturday, is worth 5,000 euros (6,443 dollars).
Pro Asyl honors people who have worked to promote respect for human rights and the protection of refugees.
