Plans to build a 37-storey world trade centre

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Mohammed, has unveiled his administration’s strategy towards delivering democratic dividends to residents, especially through Public-Private-Partnership initiatives.

In an interactive session with journalists, on Monday in Abuja, Mohammed said his administration was determined to tackle the socio- economic and political development of the FCT, as well as raise the standard of living of the ordinary residents.

According to him plans have been concluded to host a retreat for FCT transportation managers to discuss the need for effective public transportation system in Abuja.

The minister also said that apart from the 300 buses distributed by the federal government in its SURE-P programme, a total of 126 buses have been delivered to the Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company to be deployed to routes within Abuja very soon.

He lamented that the traffic situation along Nyanya- Karu axis has been of concern to his administration, adding the Apo-Karshi-Ara Road being executed to reduce pressure on that route, has been delayed.

He said the administration is already collaborating with Nasarawa State Government to complete rehabilitation of Mararaba-Gitata-Mpape Road, which is expected to come out along the Murtala Muhammed Expressway (Kubwa Road) behind Aso Rock.

Information Consultant, Ibrahim Biu, also said the greatest achievement of the FCT administration is attracting huge foreign direct investment, which he said amounts to about N500 billion.

He said the investment is what is funding the proposed 37-Storey World Trade Centre and the Caraway Dallas District. Other achievements listed by the minister were the opening up of Jahi, Wuye, Maitama Extension, Katampe districts in the past 12 months.
