Oduku, speaking at a briefing in Abuja, stated that such attempt could lead to the upsurge of another militant group.

“If Nigeria as a nation, as a great country called the giant of Africa that wants to dialogue with avengers simply means that is a shame to Nigeria as a country. When these young men started as a militant platform and the Federal government gave them the opportunity of an amnesty.
“Today, if you now agree that let the federal government come into agreement with the avengers, tomorrow other groups will still come up again.”
Oduku, who is also the Commandant General, Riverine Security Coast-Guard of the Federation added that, “The best thing so far to do in this situation is to plant a particular platform that has to go against these issues in that region. I am urging the federal government not to negotiate with the avengers but to hold them responsible.
“Even the people bursting the pipelines have been misled by specific leaders and these people are people who are not oriented to know the hazardous impact of their activities in that environment that is why they are carrying out these assignments.
“What has avengers got to do with Biafra? Even Henry Okah who fought for freedom fighting race before this amnesty came into existence, they have not even talked about him. They are talking about Biafra.”
