Fidelity Bank Ghana played a pivotal role at the Electric Mobility Conference 2024 in Accra, where Atta Yeboah Gyan, Deputy Managing Director, underscored the transformative potential of e-mobility across Africa.
The conference, themed “The New ERA: Innovation and Sustainability” and sponsored by Fidelity Bank, convened industry leaders and government officials to deliberate on advancing e-mobility solutions, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and shaping supportive policies.
Gyan’s keynote address underscored the urgency of Africa’s burgeoning population, escalating demand for efficient transport, and imperative for sustainable climate solutions. He stressed that ‘E-mobility presents a unique and urgent opportunity to address these challenges concurrently.’
Acknowledging hurdles like high upfront costs, Gyan advocated for collaborative efforts and innovative financing mechanisms. He emphasized that ‘strategic public-private partnerships (PPPs) are crucial to expedite e-mobility infrastructure development, showing the power of collaboration.’
Gyan proposed essential government interventions, including the widespread establishment of charging stations to alleviate range anxiety and enhance EV adoption. He stressed the necessity of public education campaigns to underscore the environmental and economic benefits of e-mobility.
Highlighting Fidelity Bank’s commitment to sustainability, Gyan cited initiatives like financing renewable energy projects and integrating solar power solutions at their headquarters. He affirmed the bank’s readiness to support Africa’s journey towards a greener future through collaborative efforts across sectors.
The Electric Mobility Conference 2024 concluded with a shared vision among participants: through collaboration and steadfast sustainability commitments, e-mobility stands poised to revolutionize Africa’s transportation landscape. The conference resulted in actionable strategies, including the establishment of a task force to oversee the implementation of e-mobility solutions, ensuring a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for Africa.
