Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche has warned Nigerian fans not to expect a goal harvest against visiting Brave Warriors of Namibia in their 2014 World Cup qualifying match Sunday in Calabar.
The Eagles’ striker stated that he and his teammates are expecting a difficult game and therefore they are bracing up for a hard fight. Uche however, was optimistic that the Eagles will come clean with victory, but with a low scoreline.
“We have had a good training. And if we can play the way we have been doing in practice, I see us coming out victorious,” said Uche.
He added that the players were in high spirits and are only waiting for the encounter.
“We would need the support of the fans to win. The fans are in the back of our minds and we are going there to fight for them. What we want is victory, it does not matter the number of goals.”
Also speaking, the interim skipper, Vincent Enyama told Nigerians to expect victory and not the number of goals.
However, Nigeria Football Federation technical committee boss, Chris Green said that there will be no excuse for failure.
“We aren’t gambling with these matches because it’s serious business; Coach Stephen Keshi knows this so only the best will play as we have to beat Namibia, Malawi and Rwanda very well.
“Winning by one goal may not be good enough, we must use our best players and best team to get a good result,” he pointed out.
