Ghana will face another draw to determine whether they will be the team to host the first leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifying playoffs next month.
Black Stars supporters thought because of the team?s high ranking in Africa they would be made to host the second-leg of the playoffs, giving it the advantage to correct first-leg errors.
However, in a bizarre switch CAF has decided that its draw for the 2014 World Cup qualifying playoffs will also include a draw to decide who would host the first-leg.
?The determination as to whether you play home first or away first will be based on balloting,? the Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi said.
?We hope that we get a good ballot that will offer us probably a less formidable opposition that we can surmount.? he added.
The Black Stars are among the ten countries to have sealed their places in the final phase of the qualifiers after the end of the group phase of the qualifiers over the weekend.
Egypt, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Cape Verde, Cameroon and Senegal have all sealed their places.
The Black Stars defeated Zambia 2-1 to seal their top spot in Group D and will head into a CAF draw on September 16 to determine its playoff opponent.
Ghana?s opponents will be decided in a draw to be held at the CAF HQ in Cairo by FIFA on 6th September at noon (Egyptian time).
A FIFA Team inclusive of FIFA director of Competitions, Mustapha Fahmy and Gordon Savic, Head of FIFA World Cup & Olympic Qualifiers Competitions, will be in Egypt for the draw.
The September 12th FIFA rankings will be used to determine the seeding with the five highest ranked teams in one pot and the other five teams will be placed in another pot.
There will be also a draw for each match to determine which team plays host first.
The home and away play-off matches to find the five (5) African representatives at the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 will be played between 11-15 October 2013 and the first-leg and 15-19 November 2013 for the second-leg.
