KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR TO ENTER HEAVEN WITHOUT MANY ARCHBISHOPS? — Part One.

0

The much-awaited Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ will soon become a reality. Many people know this. But, the issue is, how many people are ready for him? A lot of people seem not to be bothered by the fact of Jesus’ return. This is because, for a long time (since Jesus made the promise about his return to his disciples) nothing has happened.

In 30 AD, the year of Jesus’ ascension to Heaven, angels of God re-echoed on Mt. Olivet words he had earlier-on spoken to his disciples about his sure-return to earth. The year 2030 AD will therefore be the two-thousandth year, since this promise. Obviously, it has been a long time since; long enough for many people to have turned themselves into scoffers, who teasingly suggest that he is unable to return.

However, this sure-to-come event of Kingdom Calendar now seems imminent. This is why there are, today, many rumours and predictions about the Master’s return. These are signs, among others, pointing to the fact that because of the integrity of the one who made the promise to return (Jesus Christ the Nazarene), the fulfillment of his words can no longer delay.

Of course, nobody knows when the return of the Master will take place. The Master has however, warned his disciples that it will come like a thief. He has cautioned all his disciples that, if the master of the house knew when armed robbers would break into his home, to take away his goods, he would not have been sleeping.

It seems to me that, everything about this coming event is characterized by surprise: season, day, hour and a never-seen cataclysm of its kind in the earth. At a time when people will seem to enjoy peace, then, this surprise will come upon them.

Not only in these things will the Second Coming, of the Lord Jesus Christ, be a surprise to the inhabitants of the earth. The composition of the group of the elect few, qualified to enter Heaven, will also shock many. We are told in the Word of God, that all creation awaits the revelation of this select-group, which will be declared eligible to enter Heaven (Romans 8: 19).

There are people who many others do not expect to see in Heaven, but who will surprise the many, when they find their way there. At the same time, a select few (of so-called archbishops?), expected by many to be in Heaven, will fail to enter it. It could be that some rank-free disciples of the Master will find their way into Heaven, while some high-rank so-called archbishops (and self-styled reverends?) will be denied entry.

According to the Master people will come, from the east and west, to feast with Abraham in Heaven, whilst many Israelites born out of his loins are cast out into darkness (Matthew 8: 11-12). Jesus has also said that, while many people of Tyre, Sidon, Nineveh and the south (Ethiopia of Africa) will gain places in Heaven, many Israelites of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum will be denied entry (cf. Matthew 11: 21-24; 12: 41-42; & Luke 11: 31).

The greatest surprise of entrees into Heaven to many people will, however, be king Nebuchadnezzar: one-time king of the erstwhile Babylonian Empire who was a thorn in the flesh of unrepentant-Israel. Nebuchadnezzar ruled with an iron hand for more than forty years – 605-562 BC. Though many people do not know of a single good thing he did in his reign, he ended it in a manner worthy of earning him life in Heaven.

How could this be, many may ask? And this is the reason why it will surprise many to see him with them in Heaven. Many more others may seek to find issues with God, for being cast out of Heaven, while this one-time wicked king is made to enter. How is Nebuchadnezzar able to achieve God’s blessing in this? The answer is simple: God’s Word in Ezekiel 36: 25-27, became real to Nebuchadnezzar at the tail-end of his life. Here are these verses:

“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them” (Ezekiel 36: 25-27, KJV).

You see, when it pleased God to lead Nebuchadnezzar into His salvation, He turned him into a beast. Please read Daniel 4: 1-37 to understand this drama. For many people, it was God’s judgment upon him for his wickedness; and they rejoiced in it. But that was God’s disguised blessing to him.

God wanted to wash Nebuchadnezzar in the dew of Heaven but could never get him into the open, out of his palace, to do so. And so He turned him into a human-beast; drove him into the fields and commanded angels to guard him; so nobody would hunt him down as game. And all this, God did for a period of seven years, during which He caused the dew of heaven to do a thorough work of taking out his heart of stone, and transplanting in him a heart of flesh.

With his new heart, Nebuchadnezzar was able to worship God for his very first time. Because God washed Nebuchadnezzar in the dew of heaven (waters of baptism?), he was able to meet Jesus’ condition for anyone’s entry into Heaven, stated in John 3: 3-5. Do you see the love of God for Nebuchadnezzar and how in this love, God caused all things to work together for his good? Nebuchadnezzar will therefore surprise many to be found in Heaven to spend Eternity with God.

Nebuchadnezzar will not be the only surprise in Heaven. Remember the sailors who were with Jonah, the disobedient messenger of God who was sent to the people of Nineveh? Well, they had their idol-polluted hearts purified in the rain-waters of the storm which hit them, while they were on the deck of their ship casting its cargo into the sea. In that thorough drenching by the rain-waters, they had their stony hearts replaced with those of flesh, thus enabling them fear God, offer sacrifices and make vows to worship Him. Please Jonah 1:4-16 from the King James Version of the bible to understand the drama of this account. These seamen will therefore surprise many to be found in Heaven.

Also, Naaman, the leprous-Syrian army general, will surprise many to be found in Heaven. You see, Naaman was not only cleansed of his leprosy in the seven dips he made into the waters of the Jordan. But in the process, he had God take out his heart of stone and transplant in him, a heart of flesh.

When God was through with Naaman in His transformation process, he not only worshipped God with a heart of flesh, but was ready to take a load of the earth of Israel, to build a temple unto Jehovah in Syria. In Second Kings 5: 1-19, we read the entire account of Naaman’s cure from leprosy and the recreated heart of flesh that God him after he dipped himself seven times, into the waters of the river Jordan, in obedience to Elisha, a man of God.

The Old Testament has accounts of how God (Personally) baptized some people, to make them eligible to enter Heaven, when they had no idea what blessings He was bestowing on them. The list of such blessed people is a very short one.

It consists of Noah in the ark (First Peter 3: 20-21); Abraham in the waters of the Euphrates river (Joshua 24: 2-3); infant-Moses in the Nile waters (Exodus 2: 1-10); Israel in the Red sea crossing (First Corinthians 10: 1-2) and the generation of Israelites who crossed the waters of the Jordan (Joshua 4: 1-9). Nebuchadnezzar, Naaman and Jonah’s ship mates in his infamous journey from Joppa to Tarshish were God’s latter additions to this short list of men baptized by God Himself.

All these incidents of baptism occurred as and in the shadows of this ordinance of the New Testament doctrines, which brings new-life to all who are blessed by God to receive it in Jesus’ name. Later on, God sent Jesus to make real these and many other shadows of baptism, in that which he received at the hand of John the Baptist.

BEWARE OF THESE ARCHBISHOPS (Part One)

0

In recent times, I have grown to become very much fascinated by records of historical events. This fascination has led me to give a lot of value to the work of archaeologists, geologists, historians and other workers who seek to inform mankind of his past, more than I ever did.

I delight in studying the past for two reasons. First, is the thrill I get from knowing how that mankind of ancient times lived without today’s technology and lifestyles, and yet advanced to the heights of being able to build such wonders as the Tower of Babel and Pyramids of Egypt.

The second is that, I get to know that nothing is really new in this world: all we see today have once been around in our world. The only differences are the ways these things come and the colour of their wrappings.

No doubt, the past informs the present, as many people believe. And that the present reflects the future is also a fact. Today is the shadow of tomorrow’s reality. What goes up also comes down; and what goes around, comes around. The wise of our earth have always thus spoken; and how true I find their words to be.

The best place to study mankind’s past is in the Word of God – the Bible. This is because many bible events predate recorded history. The Bible is history recorded by God Himself, of those special aspects, of mankind’s existence which he is himself ignorant about, but known to the infinite Mind of God.

Before mankind could get to make pots, metal-tools, develop the alphabets, or record events, relics of all of which, today, give us something about our history, God had already captured the history of mankind’s Creation and His dealings with him, thereafter.

God’s record of mankind’s history has neither error nor inaccuracies. This is because He not only has a perfect mind with which He directed the recording of mankind’s history, but also because He Himself caused those historical events to come about, and in the manner and sequence they did.

In this article, I like to take readers to mankind’s history in the pre-Flood days of Noah. The wickedness of the earth in the days of Noah, which precipitated the destruction of the entire world, were committed by two beings – humans, and also a peculiar race of giant-humans who were called, nephilim.

It might be news to many people today that, a non-Adamic race, the nephilim, once physically co-habited the earth with mankind. Yet this has been a fact of history which is more than four millennia old. The fact is that, before The Flood of Noah, the nephilim race became the second occupants of the earth.

From God’s account about this race in the Book of Genesis, the nephilim came as product of an unholy sexual union between the sons of God (a crop of fallen angels, or were they archangels?) and the daughters of men. These daughters of men were very beautiful, but sadly, too powerless to resist the physical strength of angels (and or archangels?).

I like to quote this record of Genesis from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, here: There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown (Genesis 6: 4, KJV).

May readers note in this quotation, the words “in those days; and also after that”. This is worthy of note because it establishes the fact that the invasion of this army of fallen angels to rape the daughters of men, occurred, at least, on two occasions – one before The Flood of Noah, and the other(s) sometime(s) after the deluge.

This was a case of history repeating itself; and I am not surprised about that since nothing really is new, under the sun. In fact, there has been yet another invasion by fallen angels into the lives of men, in modern times, which (invasion) also produced its latter-day race of nephilim.

Presently, I shall show when and how this modern-day invasion took place. I shall also venture to show where this took place, and go on to reveal to mankind today, how to identify the latter-day nephilim, who are in an unending conflict against today’s seekers of God’s salvation in Christ Jesus.

The offspring which came of the first invasion did not live very long, for the world-wide deluge of Noah’s day, which destroyed all life on earth, caused their extinction. We do not know when the second (or third, or fourth?) invasion by angels to our earth, to have sexual acts with the daughters of men took place. However, records in the Bible show that their offspring lived on earth much longer than the first.

We read in the Book of Genesis chapter fourteen that, after The Flood of Noah which historians teach mankind to have taken place around 2348 BC, a race of giant human beings lived on the earth. The last biblical account of this race of giants, was one that involved the killing in battle in about 1018 BC, one of its kind, who had twelve fingers and twelve toes (Second Samuel 21: 20).

The post-Flood race of giants has been known by various names in the Bible. However, they are all of a common ancestry, since they all came into being, when some fallen angels raped some daughters of men. These giants have collectively been called Rephaims, Zuzims, Emims (Genesis 14: 5), Anakims, Zamzummins and Horims (Numbers 13: 28-33, Deuteronomy 2: 9-12, 20, Joshua 11: 21-22) at various times and locations.

Individually, some of these giants have been called Anak (Numbers 13: 33), Og (Deuteronomy 3; 3-15), Goliath (First Samuel 17: 4-7), Ishbibenob and Saph (Second Samuel 21: 16-18). In Second Samuel 21: 19, it is revealed that the inglorious and well-known Goliath had a brother, of the lineage of the nephilim, whose name was however not given to us. Also, Second Samuel 21: 20 mentions the man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each leg as a man “born to the giant”. He was killed by Jonathan, a nephew of David the Warrior of Israel.

Let me make a few observations about this race of nephilim –giants, mighty men of old, men of renown. The first is that, God was angered by the union of angels and humans which brought this race into being. That being the case, this race never came into being by God’s design and therefore had neither value nor use in His Kingdom.

The race of nephilim therefore was only useful and belonged to the kingdom of fallen angels – darkness. Being of the kingdom of darkness, the nephilim could only serve it by working against mankind. Of course they were against every man, in general, but more so the elect of God.

That is why this race, throughout its period of physically intruding into the affairs of mankind, was constantly at war with Israel, the elect of God. Thank God this race became exterminated through wars waged against it by Israel, the earthly Army of God.

Today, mankind might not be aware of its existence, because today’s nephilim neither has physical contacts with humans, nor visible spatial domains: they now exist as spirit beings. Today’s nephilim came into being through a sexual union, which is revealed as spiritual adultery.

Every student of the Bible knows what spiritual adultery means. It is the forced union between the true worship of God, and that of idols, demons, Satan, and or any other powers beside God. So any union between archangels (spirit beings) and bishops (humans) will result in the birth of nephilim. And this is one cursed legacy bequeathed to this generation, by the pagan-church of Rome of the Second Century, who forced an unholy marriage between archangels and bishops.

Whether the pagan-controlled church of Rome, in the aftermath of the apostles of Jesus Christ, during the Second Century, knew it or not, their marrying of the two words –archangel and bishop– to create without the mandate of God, the word archbishop, brought into the Church, the latter-day nephilim.

After studying the many notorious acts of the Roman Empire politicians of the Second Century, in and against the Church, one is inclined to believe that they were done on purpose and at the behest of their Boss – Satan.

BEWARE OF THESE ARCHBISHOPS (Part Two)

0

Towards the end of the Part One of this article, it was revealed that today’s nephilim, is indeed the persona of the archbishop of today. It was also revealed that the archbishop was a creation of the pagan-Christianity of the erstwhile Roman Empire and that this happened in the Second Century; over 1900 years ago.

Obviously, this has been a long time since; long enough for this nephilim-persona (of the archbishop) to have been coated with so much cosmetic powders as to have camouflaged his true identity, to people today. But what secret of man and or the Devil, can be hid from the piercing eyes and all-knowing Mind of God the Almighty?

And so today, by the Grace of God, the true identity or personality of the archbishop, begotten by and of the pagan-Christianity of the erstwhile Roman Empire, can no longer be hid from salvation-seekers. It is my hope and prayer that this article will bless all its readers and the many seekers of God’s salvation in Christ Jesus, in revealing to them who the archbishop is, in reality.

The New Testament is the Constitution of the Kingdom of God. In another thought, it is the bequeathed Will of Jesus Christ to his genuine and loyal disciples. Being a Will, is the reason why it could only come into effect after the death of Jesus Christ. Yet still, the New Testament is the last Covenant of God, made to establish, define and maintain a new relationship between God and man.

Every detail of this Covenant is composed by God alone. No man had a part in the composition of this Covenant. This Covenant is made to be in force forever: it does not change. No man can add to or subtract from the words of this Covenant since it is sealed in the blood of Jesus Christ.

Please, be not mistaken into thinking of the New Testament to have come into being with the accounts of Matthew chapter one verse one. The New Testament came into being by the events of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, on the Day of Pentecost. The Book of Acts chapter two, verse two, is therefore, the starting point of the New Testament.

Being a constitution of the Kingdom of God, the New Testament defines the status, responsibilities, functions, privileges, code of conduct, et cetera, of all its members. This Constitution reveals how all members must function as Ambassadors of Heaven to Earth, and also lays bare, the rewards due them for their dedicated service to the Kingdom of God. These rewards, however, can only be presented to deserving ambassadors in Heaven, at the end of time.

If we study the details of this Constitution, with particular reference to its articles and clauses on membership and functions of its earthly members, it will reveal to us the personality of the archbishop, as being the latter-day nephilim. In this constitution, the archbishop is not mentioned to be a member of it. This constitution does not therefore assign any role or functions to him.

The Bible reveals that the Church of Jesus Christ is a Body synonymous to the human body (Romans 12: 4-5, First Corinthians 12: 12-27). Every member of this Body fits into it according to the design of God, and plays his assigned role in much the same manner as every part of the human body does. The role played by every member in the Body of Christ is determined and assigned by only the Master, Jesus Christ, and never by any other person(s).

Every member of this Body is either, an apostle, a prophet, an evangelist, or a pastor/teacher, according to Ephesians 4: 11. It will be good if one pondered on this statement; and accepted it as the truth of God. Indeed, the Body of Christ (the Church), is made up of apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors/teachers.

Each of these parts shoots off from the Head, who is Christ. All of these four members must function in the roles of elder, or bishop, and or deacon (Philippians 1: 1, First Timothy 3: 8-12). There is also the word ‘overseer’ used in Acts 20: 28, in description of any man who plays one or all three roles of elder, bishop, and deacon.

The common error in giving to men, such titles as ‘presbyter’ and ‘shepherd’, within the context of roles they play in the Church must be avoided, since nowhere in the New Testament are these names mentioned as such. Of course, we do have a presbytery, but without presbyters: and this is the revelation of the New Testament to us.

If we bring our minds down to earth from Heaven, we can understand this, when we accept that we do have Cabinet without ‘cabineteers’. We must never seek to assist God, in trying to enrich His vocabulary for Him, by forcing into His Word, without His mandate, the word ‘presbyter’ simply because He has mentioned the word ‘presbytery’ in His Word. We must not do this.

The word ‘shepherd’ when used in the New Testament, is always in the context of the role played by Jesus Christ, in the Body of Christ. None of the four-member parts of the Body of Christ– apostle, prophet, evangelist and pastor/teacher –plays the ‘shepherd’ role, in the entire New Testament revelation.

From all the foregoing, there is no mention in the Word of God, of the word ‘archbishop’. Obviously, since Creation, God has never used this word. The word ‘archbishop’ has never entered the Mind of God, and never will. Why so, one might ask? It is simply because this word ‘archbishop’ is irrelevant to all intents and purposes of God the Almighty.

All people who bear the title, archbishop, do not represent God, no matter how pious- or sanctimonious-looking they may be. Whatever roles the archbishop plays on earth, among a people who claim to be of the Church of Jesus Christ, he is without the mandate of God. No archbishop can therefore be of any good to anybody who desires to seek the salvation of God in Christ Jesus.

The entire personality of archbishop, and whatever roles he plays in any grouping of salvation-seekers, is alien to the Constitution of the New Testament. The archbishop is therefore not a God-made person; but one made by the Adversary, one of today’s spiritual nephilim. The archbishop, therefore, is a functionary of the Adversary. May every archbishop, and his followers, beware of this.

Let me lead you to think about words, their meanings, power and how they can impact on your life. Every word has within it, spiritual power; in fact all words are spirit. The word ‘archbishop’, therefore, has within it, a lot of spiritual power that enables it to do the work it was created to do. The sad thing is that, the spiritual power within the word, ‘archbishop’, does not come from God.

If a word comes from God, it is highly laden with the power of God and blesses the people it is spoken to. When a word originates from Satan, it has laden in its belly, so much demonic power that will bring curses to all it is used on or who use it.

The word nephilim of old, and its latter-day version, archbishop, have the same capacity to wreak havoc against people who seek to do the Will of God. For about 1300 years, from the date of the Flood of Noah (in 2348 BC), when the second invasion to earth by the parent stock of nephilim took place, to the year of their final destruction (in 1018 BC), the nephilim had their day.

The return of the latter-day nephilim, in the personality of the archbishop, is known to have taken place in the Second Century (after 100 AD). The latter-day nephilim has therefore been around for more than 1900 years. It must be time now for today’s spiritual Israel to be rid of this power of the enemy.

All true servants of God must take up their spiritual weapons to wage war against this imposter, to rid the world of his corruption of God’s people. For sure, God will be with all His loyal soldiers who rise up to this task; and victory will not elude His army.

Shalom.

Clergy are responsible for today’s homosexual menace

0

(Your esteemed and highly authoritative newspaper,) The Chronicle, in its Thursday, July 21, 2011 edition, carried a news item credited to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), on views expressed by some clergymen in Sunyani, Ghana, who the GNA said it randomly interviewed on the issue of homosexuality. I must say it made interesting reading.

After reading the news item, I felt obliged to join the on-going public discourse on the rise in homosexual tendencies in Ghana, the worry of many people. This article is therefore an expression of my views on the menace of this weird lifestyle, more so on what the Clergy should have proactively done, to have stemmed its fast-growing popularity and the embarrassment it has brought us.

All in all, what did the Clergy in Sunyani say in the news item which we did not already know?  For me, these clergy-men told us nothing new. That is sad; coming from a privileged few, who claim to be so close to God that their work is to warn mankind of all impending dangers.

If they are now warning mankind of God’s sure-to-come judgment on all homosexuals, then they have done too little, too late.

From my little research, the Judgment of God came upon the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, in punishment for their sins of homosexuality, in the year 1898 BC or thereabout. Mankind has therefore lived on earth after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, for close to four millennia (1898 BC – 2011 AD).

God hates
homosexuality
For all this time, mankind has known God hates homosexuality and all other sins; that He will judge all homosexuals; and will destroy all those who engage in homosexuality. So, was it beneficial, for the Clergy to tell us what we have known ever since the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?

What I expected the clergy-men to tell mankind was what God has done as solution to the sin-problem of mankind, which includes the sins of homosexuality: how that in, and by, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross, a lasting solution has been found to stem the tide of every sin of mankind.

I believe these clergy-men know that, the homosexual perverts of Sodom and Gomorrah were enslaved to the yoke of the Devil and, therefore, incapable of breaking from it.  Jesus Christ came to set mankind free of that yoke. This freedom has been available for all salvation-seekers to access since the year of ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ in 30 AD; a mystery many clergy-men claim to be its custodians.

If the Clergy had been up to the task of propagating this good news about how Jesus Christ delivered mankind from the power and dominion of sin, all this while, the homosexual menace would not have reached the horrible limits we now face.

The Clergy seems to have fallen asleep, when they should have been informing mankind that Jesus Christ manifested to take the sin of the world away, and that he has indeed destroyed the works of the devil in, and by, his sacrifice.

The Clergy does not seem capable of dealing with the homosexual menace, despite all the power they often claim to possess in an anointing they say came to them from God, for their work. Because of their inadequacy to this task, they are now in desperation, calling on politicians to make laws to rescue our nation from an imminent Sodom-style destruction, the result of the weird lifestyles of homosexuals. How sad this is.

Very often, I have heard clergy-men preach that the age of the Law is over; and that we now live in the era of Grace. Why then do the Clergy want to take us back to an era of law? And why must they seek the support of politicians, to legislate such a law?

I think all men who consider themselves as part of the Clergy, must seek to concentrate on the core mandate of the Master, in the Great Commission, and on they functioning as the salt and light of the world, instead of trying to bring mankind back to the Law age with the help of politicians.

Why is the mandate of the Master, to bring his salvation to sinners, not being fulfilled by the Clergy, who claim to be called by the Lord for this assignment? The Clergy seem to be too much pre-occupied with the cares of this life and, therefore, are hardly seen as God’s ministers of reconciliation between sinners and God the Almighty.

problem of gays and lesbians
The problem of gays and lesbians can never be solved by politicians or by any legislation. No world government can control homosexuality. This is because, the solution to all sin problems lie in the spiritual power of Jesus’ sacrifice, God’s Word, His Holy Spirit, and the will of the individual who acts in the appropriate manner as desiring for solution to his/her sin problem.

It is therefore sad that the Clergy has resorted to cries and wails to governments of the world, for legislation to deal with such a spiritual canker as homosexuality, which pre-dates modern history. How could the Clergy take its eyes off the mandate of God to genuine workers of His vineyard, to look to worldly institutions for solutions to problems of mankind?

The answer is not difficult to find. The Church, led by the Clergy is now comfortably in bed with world governments. This was the same problem the Church suffered in the Second Century under pagan Roman Empire governments. It is sad the Church is yet to shake himself off the shackles of governments of the World Order.

The relics of the influence of pagan Roman Empire governments are with us unto this day. What-with all the titles we see borne by the Clergy, which have no relation to the Christian Faith, but were introduced into the Church by pagan-Rome?

Where from such words as Clergy, Laity and Archbishop? Do you know God has never used these words? If God has never used these words, then what relevance do they have in His Work and or within His workforce? Pagan-Rome of the Second Century brought them into the Church.

No archbishop has any role to play in the work of God. That is why God has no definition for this word. It is the invention of man and therefore irrelevant for God’s Work. For a long time this word served the purpose of pagan-Rome. Its continuous use clouds the true structure of the True Church, by introducing foreign elements into it, and distorts the salvation message.

The word archbishop is an unholy product of two words -archangel and bishop. Not because we have an archangel and a bishop must we have an archbishop. Any person, who wields spiritual power from his position as an archbishop, has not been given that power by God the Almighty.

Not very long after Creation, an unpermitted sexual relationship between the sons of God (angels) and the daughters of men (humans) resulted in the birth of an unholy and inglorious race of men-only giants known as, nephilim: who roamed our earth, before and after The Flood (Genesis 6: 4; Numbers 13: 28-29 & 33; Deuteronomy 2: 20-21; First Samuel 17: 4-7, et cetera).

This race of dreadful giants was neither suitable for God’s use, nor for mankind’s; but only for the kingdom of darkness. It therefore quickly became extinct, and the culpable angels kept in chains in very dark prisons awaiting judgment (Second Peter 2: 4, Jude 6-7).

The fact therefore is that, any hybridization of an archangel and a human-bishop will never bring forth any being, suitable or acceptable for God’s use in His Church. May all seekers of God’s salvation, beware of this.

There are few God-ordained appellations describing the functional roles by which genuine workers in the service of God are known. These are not titles; they are descriptions of roles or functions in the Body of Christ. They are: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. None of these are titles. That is why we read ‘Paul, an apostle’ and ‘Philip, the evangelist’ and never ‘Apostle Paul’ or ‘Evangelist Philip’ in the Bible.

The Clergy have gone chasing after titles that are irrelevant to the Christian Faith and thrown away the anointed functional descriptions God Himself has ordained for His workers. With man-made titles in their hands, they are then devoid of the power they must have, to be able to prosecute the agenda of the Work of God.  They then cry to political power brokers they have formed alliances with to come to their assistance and rescue. Oh my Lord Jesus Christ, where is your True Church? Maranatha.

Mr Kufour was born on December 8, 1938 in Kumasi, the central town of Ashanti Region to Nana Kwadwo Agyekum – head of the Oyoko royal family- and Nana Ama Dapaah – a queen mother- . He was the seventh of ten children. He had his Secondary education at Prempeh College in the Ashanti Region. Upon completion, his good grades gained him admission at the Lincoln Inn, England. He was called to join the Bar in 1961 at age 22.
With his passion for politics growing stronger, he entered Oxford University in 1961 and graduated in 1964 with a degree in Politics, Economics and Philosophy. While in Oxford Universtiy, Mr Kufour met and fell in love with Theresa Mensah –who was studying nursing in the same University. The two love birds got married in 1962 and are blessed with five wonderful children. Kufour and his family moved down to Ghana upon a request made by his dear mother in 1965.
He entered the public service in 1967 when he was appointed Chief Legal Officer and Town Clerk of Kumasi till he left in 1969. He was a member of the 1968-69 and the 1979 Constituent Assemblies that drafted the Constitutions of the Second and Third Republics respectively.
He got his first ministerial appointment as deputy foreign minister under the Progress Party government in 1969. From 1969 to December, 1971, he led Ghana’s Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Organization of African Unity (OAU) Ministerial Meetings in Addis Ababa, and the Summit Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Lusaka, Zambia. In 1970, he led the Ghanaian Delegation to Moscow in the Former Soviet Union, Prague (Former Czechoslovakia), and Belgrade (Yugoslavia) to discuss Ghana’s indebtedness to these Countries. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Delegation that Visited the United States of America (USA) in 1981 to talk to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank on Ghana’s economic problems.
In 1972 the Progress Party government was overthrown by the military and many officials were thrown into jail, including Kufuor. He was in political detention on two occasions as a result of military coups that overthrew the Second and Third Republics.
After his release he moved to the business world where he became chairman of the board of the Ashanti Brick and Construction Company.
After joining the New Patriotic Party, he ran for flag-bearership position in 1992 but lost to the late Prof. Adu Boahen. He was finally given the nod by delegates of the New Patriotic Party to lead the party in the 1996 elections which he lost to ex-president Rawlings of the NDC.
He was given another chance by his party in 1998 and went on to win the presidential elections in December 2000 and was sworn in as president on January 9 2001. In December 2004, he was re-elected for a second term.
In 2008, Mr Kufuor had the Grand Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana conferred on him by the Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood.
In June 2011, the World Food Prize Foundation honoured Mr John Agyekum Kufuor and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, former president of Brazil, for creating and implementing government policies that alleviated hunger and poverty in their countries. They were commended in remarks by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, and USAID Administrator, Rajiv Shah.

0

A Nigerian man arrested in India at a railway station on suspicion, told the police he was from Ghana. He had the photocopy of a Ghana passport in his possesion and told police his name was John Ashanti, a resident from Ghana.

But upon further interrogation, he confessed to being a Nigerian. He gave his real name as Akeem Lanre Shonubare, 45 years, according to the Indian Express news source.

The report says police allegedly found fake photocopies of a passport showing he was from Ghana. About 17 bundles of fake US dollars were also seized from him.

“He first told us that he was a resident of Ghana and his name was John Ashanti. The only document he had was a photocopy of a passport and visa stamp. When we searched his luggage, we found a laptop and an I-card of the All India Nigerian Students Association. During interrogation, he revealed that he was a Nigerian and told us his real name. He had photocopied someone else’s passport and attached his photo,” the report quoted R R Shelke, assistant police inspector with the Government Railway Police (GRP) as saying.

The suspect, the report says has been charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 for cheating and forgery and 489 (c) for use of fake currency. He was produced in court which remanded him in police custody until July 20.

Comfort Ama Benyiwa Doe – v – Dennis Doe-Vemavor, A Vexatious Claim

By Kofi Ata, Cambridge, UK

I am sure that most legal brains and readers on Ghanweb will agree with me that, the claim by one Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor, the so-called Chairman of Ghanaians Abroad Against Corruption and who also pretends to be the nephew of Mr Oscar Doe, the ex-husband of Comfort Ama Benyiwa Doe, the current Central Regional Minister of Ghana, is vexatious or frivolous. For those of us who are not lawyers or legal experts, vexatious claim or action simply means, a claim which is simply brought merely to annoy an opponent. All courts are empowered to stay such an action. That is, to suspend or dismiss the claim or action without due consideration. In most cases, cost is awarded against the vexatious litigant.

Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor began his vexatious action against Ama Benyiwah Doe early this year with an article, which both Ama Benyiwa Doe and her (adopted) son responded to. He followed that with another article disputing the facts contained in the statement of Ama Benyiwa Doe and the son’s article on Ghanaweb. In late February 2011, I also posted an article on Ghanaweb challenging the claim by Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor . In that article and among others, I identified a number of inconsistencies in his story and challenged him to respond to them. After he failed to respond to my challenge, I e-mailed him but he did not respond. I then followed my e-mail with a number of telephone calls to the mobile number he provided in his articles. Sadly, all the calls were interrupted. I also did a Google search on Ghanaians Abroad Against Corruption that he claims to chair but nothing came up. I never heard of him again until yesterday when he posted an alleged petition on Ghnaweb to the President of Ghana, copied to various organisations and VIPs. I telephoned him again, soon after I read his petition on Ghanaweb but gave up as the calls were interrupted continuously. From these, my own conclusion is that, either Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor is a fake and does not exist or he is simply up to mischief, nothing more, nothing less.

Again, his petition to the President is not credible and full of inconsistencies. Now, he is even trying to suggest that the then Nigerian authorities were complicit in the alleged murder of his uncle by assisting Ama Benyiwa Doe to adopt the child of his deceased uncle. At the same time, he claimed in the petition, that the Nigerian Police could not interview her because she disappeared. It is not clear in the petition whether she disappeared prior to adopting the child and or disposing of Mr Oscar Doe’s assets. Someone who claims to have LLB could not even make an explicit and precise statement of fact in a Presidential Petition. He is a disgrace to the law profession, if indeed, he has an LLB. I know for a fact that he did not obtain his LLB in Ghana because the Ghana Law School is a reputable one that would not produce such a discredited graduate. I also believe that he is not a graduate of any of the UK bona fide and accredited educational institutions. Probably he bought his LLB.

Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor, as someone with an LLB, did you know that, an extradition is a request from one sovereign state/government to another? If so, who is requesting Ama Benyiwa Doe’s extradition and to where, if the Nigerian government is not the requesting authority? Did you know that Amnesty International has an office in Ghana and if so, why did you not give them a copy of your petition but Amnesty, UK? Do you also know a human rights organisation in Africa called, African Commission for Human and Peoples’ Rights? What about the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice in Accra? Why did you not send copies of your petition to them? Last but not the least, what about the Ghana Police if you gave a copy to Nigerian Police? Did you really go to law school and if so which one and where?

The big question is, why is this person targeting Ama Benyiwa Doe and what is his or her objective? Is it politically motivated and if so, who is behind it? I am tempted to suspect that his or her aim is political but unfortunately, I am unable to consider who is behind it. There is no doubt that, Ama Benyiwa Doe has a lot of political enemies because of the high profile role she played when NDC was in opposition. She herself made a number of unsubstantiated and serious allegations against leading members of the then NPP government. It is therefore very tempting for some readers and her sympathisers to assume that the NPP could be behind this claim by Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor. I totally disagree with any such assumption because in my opinion, the NPP could do a better job. There are very seasoned lawyers within the NPP and therefore, the NPP would not display such utter ignorance of the law and infantile behaviour. Again, this is the main opposition party in Ghana and a potential government in waiting (from previous elections in Ghana and since Ghana is a de facto two party state). In other words, this is an inferior tactics and I personally would be worried if a party that could form a government in Ghana as early as 2013 or 2017 could resort to such level.

As I said in my article in February, I am not here to defend Ama Bentiwah Doe and in fact, if it is true that she poisoned her ex-husband, then the law should take its course. However, because of the inconsistencies and the elementary mistakes and the naivety of the accuser especially, as an LLB graduate, which makes his frivolous claims more disconcerting I am concerned that, he is just up to damage the reputation and political career of Ama Benyiwa Doe. Often, Ghanaians have used the electronic media to throw horrible and unsubstantiated allegations against politicians, including the current and former Presidents, Nana Akufo Addo and many others. My concern is that, the electronic media is being used by political opponents to discredit Ghanaian politicians to the international community. These allegations are not only damaging to the individual politicians but the goodwill and reputation of the nation state and corporate Ghana.

Mr Dennis Doe-Vemavor, you are a fake and you have fabricated a story that does not make sense. Your actions are misguided and your petition is not worth consideration by the President. It should be treated with contempt that it deserves. It is vexatious and a waste of time, I advise you to take a better approach by doing your home work well, establish the facts and gather credible evidence before you act. What you are doing is dangerous. How do you feel about the negative comments on your petition from Ghanweb readers? A word to the wise is enough.

Naa Jemaa Matarah II

1
There comes a time in the life of man when self fulfillment can only be attained by serving others in a less privileged position in life. For the likes of Naa Jemaa Matarah II, the word altruism best suits the above description.
Working for the comfort of his fellow men is a source he draws true happiness from. We are going to delve deep into his life and achievement and what he stands for, and for his people of Gbanko in the Kaleo traditional area of the Upper West Region.
WHO IS NAA JEMAA MATARAH II?
Naa Jemaa Matarah II was born on the 9th of December 1962 to Laadi Mwinnilayuori Dzamaa and Nomuna Ambarima in the small Gold Mining camp of Tamso in the Western Region of Ghana.
SCHOOL DAYS
The second of seven children, Naa Matarah started his elementary school education in 1969 in the Western Region. In the same year, his father decided to ‘ship’ him up North to continue his primary education. In 1970, he was enrolled at the St Louis Catholic Primary school under the watchful eyes of his maternal grandmother, Tirima in Kaleo. Naa Matarah’s leadership qualities were self evident when he got elected as the senior school prefect of St Louis primary in 1975.
In September 1975, as a class six pupil, he sat for and passed the Xavier entrance examination and was thus admitted into St Francis Xavier Junior Seminary, Wa. Here again Naa Matarah held several leadership positions from his early years until he was appointed the senior prefect in his senior years. After completing his O-level Exams with distinction in 1981,the young Naa Matarah had wanted to join the Holy priesthood, but destiny dictated otherwise, leading him on to his Sixth form education at St Peters Secondary School, Nkwatia Kwahu,(Eastern Region)between 1981 and 1983.Here again, Naa Matarah was elected to serve as House Prefect.
THE UNWILLING MINER
After qualifying to enter the university in 1983, Naa Matarah had to mark time for one full year, as the Universities had been closed down by the then Government. Not wanting to be a burden on his poor parents, Naa Matarah found himself working as an ‘unwilling miner’ in the State Gold Mines in Tarkwa. Fortune however smiled on him after three long months of grueling underground work. He was spotted, interviewed and appointed as a junior Manager at the nerve centre of the Mines-Monitoring Supervisory Services (MOSS)-where at his tender age he robbed shoulders with Senior Mining Executives on a daily basis
UNIVERSITY EDUCATION
As exciting and rewarding as his job was, education was topmost on the mind of the budding Chief and when universities were reopened in 1984,Naa Matrah quickly resigned his job at the Mines and proceeded to the University of Ghana ,Legon, where he read the Liberal Arts and graduated with second class Honors Degree in English and French in 1988.After two years of National Service, one year at the Lawra Secondary School and the other with the All Africa Students Union at the State House in Accra, Naa Matarah’s search for more academic laurels saw   him return to the University of Ghana ,Legon, where under the tutelage of the famous and now late Professor P.A.V Ansah,he read his post Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies, scoring an enviable Grade A in Journalism in 1991.His project Work was on “URA-Radio as a tool for Rural Development”.
A SPELL IN EUROPE
Naa Matarah had earlier in 1990 undertaken a two month Journalism and Cultural Exchange Program in Finland, but disappointed many of his friends and colleagues by deciding to come back home, rather than stay in Europe. It was, and still is the dream of many young people, especially University Graduates to seek greener pastures after graduation.
STINT WITH LINTAS
A fully confident and qualified Naa Matarah then entered the job market in late 1991 and worked for almost nine years with the largest advertising firm in Ghana (Lintas Ghana ),where he was mentored by the likes of Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey,Emmanuel Addo,Kwake Mensah Bonsu and Naorkor Duah.As Accounts/Client Services Director at his peak, he interfaced extensively with client and Agency partners in Lagos,Harare,London,Johannesburg, and Cape Town, working on famous brands like Guinnnese,Lux,Key Soap,Sunlight,Shell, and the Ghana Social Marketing Foundation.
HEART BEAT
From 1991, while he was still undergoing his post-graduate programme, he met the love of his life, Aimee Vida Quarshie, a law student then at the same university. They got married about three years into the relationship in 1993, and have since been blessed with two strong boys-Jemaa and Zintan
ORAKLE MULTIMEDIA/BAN-IIBO
In 1999, Naa Mataraa founded his own Advertising Firm, Orakle Multimedia Limited, Where he now works as the Managing Director in Accra. His highest career point was when he led his Advertising Agency to win a number of prestigious Awards at the 2006 Gong Gong Awards held in Accra. With his young team of creative people he has worked on the Public Relations and Marketing Communications Accounts of Business and clients as varied as Ghana Stock Exchange, Ghana Airways, Internal Revenue Service, Aluworks, JICA, DANIDA, IFAD, The Ministry of Health, UNICEF, Cargil, North America Airlines, Iburst Africa, including several nation-building media projects in the Upper West, East and Northern regions.
Ever on the lookout on how to impact his home region of Upper West Region, Naa Matarah, in collaboration with some friends in the United States of America, set up Ban-iibo, a local NGO based in Accra and in the Upper West Region (2002) and travelled in and out of the United States in search of collaboration and benefactors to help champion his vision.
ULTIMATE CALL TO SERVICE
After the death of Gbanko Naa, Naa Maree, Emmanuel Mwinila-Yuori was quite unexpectedly approached by the young men and elders of Dzamaayiri, to consider taking up the skin. A skin that belonged originally to his great-grand father, Matarah.Having no foreknowledge or any deliberate formation in traditional matters, it took him quite a while to make up his mind. He calls it “the Ultimate Call to Service”. As tradition demands, Naa Matarah was subsequently introduced to the King Makers of the Kaleo Traditional Council on the 1st of February, 2005, under the skin name of Naa Jemaa Matarah II.
Naa Matarah’s biggest professional passion today is to fill the media void in Northern Ghana, a Northern based television station which will reflect the life and culture of the people of the North is something in the offing. The license to do this has already been granted by the National Communication Authority (NCA), and the campaign is on to generate the needed funding to launch this TV channel.
Naa Matarah’s hobbies include Tennis, Sea/Savannah Gazing and an occasional indulgence in what he calls “the Purity of Solitude”.
GBANKO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENDA
Led by a new chief, a first generation literate and a graduate of the University of Ghana, Gbankuola are hoping to break free from the stagnation of the past and into the promise of tomorrow. The following is an attempt to define the road map for the development of the village through the vision of the chief, Naa Jemaa Matarah.
VISION
To be a forward looking, development oriented model community worthy of emulation by all.
MISSION
To make education the primary responsibility of every parent and thus ensure that 100% of school going age are sent to school.
DEVELOPMENT GOALS
To build a better community for women and children and to tackle rural exclusion
To instill a sense of pride and belonging in every Gbanko resident
To build and sustain a high sense of communalism among the people, especially in the women and the youth (resident and nonresident)
To bring joy and happiness and personal fulfillment into every home in Gbanko
EDUCATION
Set up an educational endowment fund
Refurbish and furnish the existing school infrastructure to include a pre-school/Kindergarten and provide for both care and feeding
Build a library
Institute an award/scholarship scheme for best pupils and students
SAVANNAH CHILD EDUCATION TRUST (SACHET)
Naa Jemaa Matarah II has come out with an educational Project aimed at fully educating over 1,000 children within a decade. A foundation has been set up for this particular purpose of getting many people from the traditional area educated.
Savannah Child Education Trust (SACHET) is a Naa Jemaa Matarah educational initiative. It stems out of the new chief’s personal conviction that liberating the mind through formal education is the beginning of the solution to the endemic poverty of his home region. The trust is therefore intended to generate financial and material support on a scale which has never been experienced in the traditional area.
WHO WILL BENFIT FROM SACHET
The funds generated will over the next ten years (2011-2021) directly sponsor the education of 1,000 children from the Kaleo traditional area who are either orphaned or whose parents are simply too poor to get them into school. Other needy children from the Upper West Region also stand a chance of being sponsored. Funds will be raised through direct appeals and various tried and tested outreach and promotional activities both in and outside the home region.
Naa Jemaa Matarah II, known in private life as Emmanuel Mwinila-Yuori has decided that service to mankind is a service to the good Lord, as his entire being is geared towards the attainment of this life time project.

Nigerian High Commissioner’s official response to allegations

RESPONSE TO
ALLEGATIONS OF WIFE BATTERING AGAINST ME, DR
CHIJIOKE WIGWE, BY MRS TESS IYI WIGWE AS PUBLISHED BY
THE STAR NEWSPAPER ON 26TH MAY 2011

Background

I married Tess Iyi Wigwe (nee Oniga) under native law and
custom on 9th April 1978. The girl I married was famous for
her temper and fighting ability. With my gentle and
unassuming nature, I honestly believed that the sharp
contrast in our characters could neutralize and complement
each other. It was a grave error of judgment.

I joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in April 1984 after teaching at the University of Jos for some years.  My first posting in 1986 was to Tokyo, Japan. I was in charge of Commercial and Trade Matters. One night in July 1988, I took my female colleague from another Embassy out for dinner. It was actually the first outing.
After dinner, I took her in my car in order to drop her off at a train station.

As we drove through town, a car which I quickly recognised as mine (I owned 2 cars) and being driven by Mrs. Wigwe pulled up beside us at a traffic light. Mrs Wigwe hurled air freshener bottles and any other objects she could find in the car to hit us. I later came down from the vehicle and explained to her who the lady was. But she did not believe me and instead chased me through the city shouting abuses at us and throwing objects at us.

When I got to a train station, I opened the door and let the lady out. Mrs Wigwe abandoned her car in the middle of the road causing a big jam as she ran after the lady. She caught up with her and after interrogating her, seriously assaulted her, and beat her so mercilessly using the woman’s umbrella that the woman passed out.

Mrs. Wigwe fearing that the lady was dead fled the scene taking with her the woman’s hand bag. Good Samaritans took the lady to hospital where she spent one month in intensive care. I was made to pay the woman’s hospital bills. The morning after the attack, Mrs Wigwe traced me to the Embassy where I had taken shelter and took a huge stone and smashed the windscreen of the car to pieces. Mrs Wigwe never admitted to taking the handbag and its contents.

However, months later, the wife of a colleague with whom she had
left the handbag, confessed. This gross act of violence visited on an innocent woman, so angered the Nigerian Ambassador and the entire staff that it was decided that Mrs Wigwe should be punished severely to deter other wives with such inclinations. Accordingly, she was suspended from post for 3 months and repatriated to Nigeria by the Embassy in October 1988.

She spent a total of 6 months at home coming back only in April 1989 when my posting came to an abrupt end following the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to recall over 150 officers worldwide who had spent 24 months and above at post in the wake of the structural adjustment programme of the government of the day.

That premature recall had a serious psychological impact on my very young family of 4 and I decided to take a one year study leave at own expense ostensibly to pursue a post-graduate diploma in journalism in London, but strategically, to insulate our children from the disruptive effects of the unpredictable posting policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I therefore took my family along with me at great cost. When I left England in February 1992, I left my family behind. In 1993 I was posted to Warsaw, Poland but my family remained in London for the sake of the children’s and Mrs Wigwe’s education. Having learnt a bitter lesson from Tokyo, I unilaterally decided that Mrs Wigwe must not live with me at post in Warsaw.

Instead, I encouraged her quest for higher education since she had only secondary education when I married her. She graduated from Middlesex University in July 1998. I paid her fees through university from 1993 and law school.  At the end of my posting in October 1998, I returned to Nigeria.  The family, now well established and
settled, remained in London. Between 1998 and 1999 I made regular visits to the family.

In November 1999, Mrs Wigwe visited me in Abuja and we travelled to her home town. We had a very serious misunderstanding.  We returned to Abuja and she travelled back to London. When she returned to London after two weeks, she informed me that she no longer wished for me to come to London as previously planned to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays. All my efforts to reach her by telephone, fax and mail were unsuccessful.

The situation continued until 2002 when on transiting London en route New York for an official assignment in
July 2002, I discovered that Mrs Wigwe had brought her male lover, a Nigerian of Yoruba tribe, to live with her and the children in the family house. The children told me how they had bitterly resented her and her lover. But she ignored the children and co-habited with her boyfriend in the family house for close to a year.

To all intents and purposes, we were still husband and wife; we were not even officially separated! It was then I knew the reason why I had been barred from visiting the family since 1999. Consequently, and bruising from the humiliation she had bestowed on me and the children in particular, I hastily remarried in December 2002.

I married my colleague in the service whom I had not actually known for more than six months. By mutual consent in December 2006, we decided to separate amicably and to remain friends which
we are to date. As the marriage had no children it was quite easy for us to part. I remained a bachelor.

Following my nomination as ambassador in September 2007, I called Mrs Wigwe on phone to offer her an olive branch and to ask her to join me, if she so wished, to associate with my new appointment. It was another grave error of judgment. Although I never intended that we should live together under the same roof
again as husband and wife given our antecedents and the coldness of feelings that mutually existed between us after many years of separate lives.

I was only prepared for her to have a sense of belonging and attachment to my new status considering also that we have 5 children together. I thought the honour was due to her. She accepted and travelled to see me in Abuja in April 2008. Our first encounter after many years, proved to me and I guess to her, that we could truly no longer call ourselves husband and wife.

Nevertheless and much to my shock and deep apprehension, she decided to take a leave of absence for 3 years from her employer in London to join me in residence in Nairobi. She insisted that I should take over her monthly expenditures in London including an ongoing mortgage for the family house I had myself helped her to buy in 2004 after she was on the verge of losing it due to lack of funds to meet her housing loan requirements.

I did this in spite of not being married to her. I did it for the sake of the children. I could not contest her decision to come and live with me in Nairobi thus I let her come. But, it was clear as crystal that
our differences and her mistrust of me and our mutual dislike for each other’s company were insoluble but above all that our long evaporated love would never come back.

Thus, we have been living in separate bedrooms connected by an inner door that is firmly and permanently locked from her side of the border. We decided to live with as minimal contact with each other as we could manage. Because she often refused to open her door, we developed the art of communication by notes pushed under the door. She liked it so much as it often allowed her to state her endless money requests without having to justify them.

We hardly engage in conversations except when she needs money. Our irregular engagements in the act of conversation often end up in a quarrel. In public we manage to present a united front but those who are close to us know that we were only putting up appearances. We did fairly well and were just longing for the end of my tenure as ambassador so that we could resume forever our separate lives.

That long hoped for time is nearly with us and hence the deep anxiety on the part of Mrs Wigwe who for 3 years has lived in reasonable comfort and financial security, with a Mercedes Benz car and a driver to complement her status.

The end of my tenure would mean a return to financial stress and anxiety for her. Mrs Wigwe is in a desperate mood. I am reliably informed that most of the GBP 1,700 mortgage (about $2,800) that I have to cough out every month from my meagre Foreign Service allowance and remit to her account in London through my Barclays account in Nairobi, was allegedly misappropriated by someone she trusted in London and that to date the mortgage in London is in tatters and Mrs Wigwe has suffered a loss of GBP 10,000.

Besides this loss, Mrs Wigwe claimed that she had lost $6,000 in cash from her bedroom in 2009 and most recently another $3,000. The houseboy then in 2009 was accused of stealing the money from Mrs Wigwe’s 24 hour locked bedroom. The servant pleaded his innocence and the money was never found and police
abandoned the matter and we sacked the servant. The latest theft of $3,000 again from her heavily locked bedroom sometime this year remains a mystery.

She did interrogate the new servant and even followed him
to his house to interrogate his wife, but nothing came of it. Mrs Wigwe is in a desperate state financially. This is the motive for the onslaught against me in a desperate attempt to tarnish my image and reputation and to get monetary compensation that will restore her big loss and sustain her for a long time. That is why she has
carefully chosen the words she used in the story that appeared in the Star where she was talking of spine and paralysis.

Mrs Wigwe is an avid watcher of the television channel Crime Investigation. She hardly watches anything else. She had obviously practised and rehearsed her lines and actions for months in her
premeditated assault on me on Wednesday 11th May 2011.

Concerning her wish for spine injury that would lead to paralysis, I can only pray God to please graciously grant her wish so that she may truly know what it is to have spine injury.

ALLEGATION OF WIFE BATTERING

On Thursday 26th May 2011, the Star, a Nairobi based tabloid, published a story in its front page with photographs showing a badly bruised face of Mrs Tess Wigwe and an allegation that I, her husband, had inflicted those injuries on her face. It was alleged that I had beaten my wife because she had responded to a “note” from me requesting to be served food. It was alleged that I had so beaten her that she suffered injuries to her spine and she was in danger of being paralysed.

Many other allegations dating back to many years then followed in her premeditated attempt to build a solid case against me, including the foolish allegation that I used to bring women to the Residence in 2008 and the blatantly false information that she left me in Nigeria in 1999 and went to England to study and live.

RESPONSE

In response to these allegations, I wish to state quite categorically that I did not beat my wife and that I did not ask for food either in writing or verbally. What happened that fateful Wednesday night was shocking to me and clearly fits into a pre-planned mould cast by the avid Crime TV watcher.. I had returned home late at night after attending the launch of a new product, Go Places, by Kenya Commercial Bank which was held at the Hilton Hotel.

As is my practice, I went straight to my room and began to take off my jacket. Mrs Wigwe matched into my room shouting on top of her voice (that is how she speaks to me) that if I knew I would not be eating at home, I should tell her so she does not have to prepare any meals for me. I was stunned as indeed I had been eating regularly every day when I come home from work.

I took it for a joke but I saw she was going on and on and would not let me put in a word. Her loud voice attracted my daughter Ada who came over to my room. Upon sighting my daughter I told her to please convince her mother that I had been eating food I met in the fridge every day at least for the past two weeks. Mrs Wigwe was taking none of that and insisted and before I knew it she was abusing me and calling me names.

I naturally got angry and told her that if she were indeed taking proper charge of her kitchen then she would have noticed that I do eat what has been prepared for me. She took offence with my comment and became agitated when I asked her when or what has prompted her sudden interest and care for my welfare.

In her characteristic manner, Mrs Wigwe lunged at me to slap me. I tried defending myself and indeed my daughter came in the way and as we tussled and jostled around the door to her own bedroom where a massive wooden shoe rack was standing, Mrs Wigwe received a cut. Once she felt blood on her right side of face, Mrs Wigwe used her right hand to rub the blood and smeared her entire face with it.

She ran into her bedroom and produced a camera and in the presence of my daughter and I, Mrs Wigwe photographed
herself, taking two to three shots. She was shouting that she had got me, and that the whole world was going to see her bloodied face; that she was going to send the picture to Abuja. As my daughter and I tried to push her into her room to prevent her from coming to fight me, my daughter’s hand was caught in the bedroom
door and she gasped in pain.

Mrs Wigwe also grabbed her phone and called her friend Yvonne to come and take her as she had been injured and bleeding. My son Nelson, who also joined in the effort to restrain Mrs Wigwe, offered to wipe the blood but Mrs Wigwe refused. With camera in hand, Mrs Wigwe ran downstairs and outside the building and for the next one hour was hurling abuses at me and shouting obscenities about
me and my family and friends.

It took the combined efforts of the Security Guard, the Cook and my son Nelson Ikenna to hold her back and prevent her from re-entering the house which I had now safely locked. In
frustration that she could not re-enter the house, Mrs Wigwe who claimed in her report to the Star that she had suffered spinal injury, managed to wrestle with three able men and finally broke loose to carry a flower pot to smash the big glass window of the room we use as gym.

She carried the flower pot and threw it at the glass window, shattering it. Not long after, her friend Yvonne arrived and together with my daughter they drove off. No ambulance was needed to convey Mrs Wigwe to hospital. Mrs Wigwe did not first rush to the
Police to report the incident and show her injuries to the police. Mrs Wigwe only reported to the police on 27th May! That speaks volumes. She went to the police after people had begun to doubt her story!

The first wave of shock when the story first hit the headlines had begun to give way to sombre reflection and analysis.  As the children and house staff began to contradict her story, she decided it was time to make a statement to the police. She began to focus on her dual citizenship and what the British government might do for her.

Yvonne later sent me a text message saying Mrs Wigwe and daughter had been admitted at Aga Khan Hospital. I sent Mrs Wigwe a text in the morning advising her to get much needed rest. I also wanted to go and see her but she bluntly told me to keep off and to await a letter from her lawyer and to watch the news
for what was going to happen to me.

I had advised her to take the period to rest properly in hospital having noticed that since January she had lacked proper sleep following the devastating news of the alleged misappropriation of GBP 10,000 by her trusted friend and the “theft” of $3,000 in-house. Of course, she was not aware that my son Nelson to whom she had confided about the loss in London had intimated me I had sworn to secrecy before not to divulge the information.

I continue to pretend ignorance of what has been ailing her and almost confining her to her bed for months. In addition, my son had also informed me that while I was away on consultation in Abuja, Mrs Wigwe had told him that somebody had hinted her that I might
have purchased a house in Nairobi. She had said that she was investigating it and if found to be true, will engage the services of a lawyer to ensure that her name was appended to the property. She thus began calling my staff in the Embassy but got no positive response.

She quizzed Nelson and found out he knew nothing of any such enterprise. She could be scheming to lay her hands on the property if it is indeed true. It is instructive that on the night when her spine was broken and she had severe waist pain, Mrs Wigwe
remembered to mention the house issue among the tirade of words that were flying out of her mouth like a practised actor. Her greed would not allow her to note that she alone owns the house in London and in her village which was built entirely with my money while serving in Tokyo.

Considering the odds staring her in the face as my tenure in Nairobi draws to a close, Mrs Wigwe is in dire need of a way out.  My daughter Ada was discharged from hospital after several x-rays revealed no damages to her bruised hand. Mrs Wigwe remained in hospital until Saturday 14th morning when Yvonne sent me a text to say that she had been discharged and I needed to pay the bills.

I was in church when the text came and I went straight to the hospital and paid the bill of ksh 27,800 (about $330) and even took her x-ray result. She had only taken the pain killer prescribed for her and had not taken the x-ray result. Her spinal injury was
miraculously healed within 3 days. From hospital she went straight to Yvonne’s home and remained there.

I travelled to Abuja on Wednesday 18th and came back on Wednesday 25th. When she heard news of my travel, she returned to the Residence as I was to learn later. As I had locked my bedroom from the front door, I was shocked to discover that my drawers had been ransacked and 1 (one) Rolex watch, 1(one)
Accurate gold watch and 1(one) gold ring with precious stone had been stolen with their cases.

Mrs Wigwe is the only one with a key to the connecting door to my room. She prevented me from keeping a spare. Only she has absolute access to my bedroom and she enters there at will including when am fast asleep. Why did she have to remove those items if not to sell them and make some extra cash from them?

Secondly, when I entered the pantry next to my bedroom, I noticed that 1 (one) trunk box and over 10 (ten) empty suitcases
belonging to me had disappeared and the room was desolate. The trunk box was full of my stuff but she had recklessly emptied them and forcefully repacked them into the other two boxes.

I asked the houseboy who confirmed that Mrs Wigwe had packed all her personal belongings into the suitcases and locked them in the store downstairs. I went downstairs and noticed that she had removed her pictures from the various room walls. In spite of all these, I found Mrs Wigwe very much living in the house, locked up as usual in her bedroom!

On the same day that I had returned to Nairobi having flown with the night flight from Lagos, I went to work and a little after 11 am I received a call from an unfamiliar number.  It was a man from Radio Africa, publishers of the Star. He mumbled something about a letter with very bad photographs of a woman sent in by a woman lawyer in respect to my wife. I was shocked but I told him that I recall that Mrs Wigwe had sent me a text on 12th May saying that I would soon hear from her lawyer.

She had also told me that she was going to send pictures around. I instantly denied inflicting any such injuries as he was describing and requested him to call me back so we could set up a meeting to discuss the letter since I who was supposed to be the accused
received no such letter from any lawyer. He hung up.

The following day, very early in the morning, I could hear movement from Mrs Wigwe’s room and I could hear that she had ran downstairs and back upstairs. As I went into the bathroom, a friend called me and advised me to check out the Star newspaper. I ran downstairs to pick up the newspapers of the day from the front door only to discover that Mrs Wigwe had earlier picked them and returned to her room.

When I finally saw a copy of the paper in my office, I was aghast at the strange photos of Mrs Wigwe and her “battered face” and worse still to read of severe injuries to her “spine” which according to the report could leave her paralysed!  I was also shocked that the story of how the argument started had been shamelessly
and fraudulently altered. I was shocked to read that my two children took her to hospital.

I was shocked to hear that I had beaten her up in 2008 because I had brought women to the Residence. And many other concoctions of our story over the years completed my day of mystery and entry into the world of absolute scandal and blackmail, with intent to extort money from me.

CONCLUSION

I affirm on my honour that I am not a wife beater. I affirm that in the many years that I have known and lived with Mrs Wigwe, she has always been the aggressor. That Mrs Wigwe is prone to using her fists first rather than engage in a debate or an argument to prove her case. If anyone is guilty of violence in my home, it is Mrs Wigwe.

If anyone is a victim of domestic violence it is I. I have lost many spectacles over the years following Mrs Wigwe’s direct hit on my face. I sleep every night afraid that she may enter my room and stab or strangle me in my sleep. I am for this reason half awake all night. I do not take phone calls when I enter the Residence. Every call I take is suspected to be from a woman who must also be my girlfriend.

So even for official calls from colleagues or from my host government or my own government, I have to go downstairs
where she cannot hear that I am making a call. On some occasion when I would have fallen asleep and had forgotten to turn the television set off, she had stormed into my bedroom with lights blazing, to accuse me of making a call.

On such occasions, I normally summon all the humility and composure in me to endure the unwarranted interruption of my sleep in order not to provoke an argument. Mrs Wigwe removes the photographs of people she does not like from the album of official events organised by the Embassy.

She had also asked that DVDs be edited to remove the people she no longer considered as friends or people she said did not greet her in a respectful way or people whose affinity to me could not be sufficiently established.

Most recently, she abused officials of the Association of Nigerian Women in Kenya (ANWIK) and prevented me from attending the Nigerian Family Fun Day on Easter Saturday 23rd April 2011, organized by the women because she was angry that ANWIK which is registered with the High Commission did not consult and get her approval before approaching the Embassy.

The women had apologised and pleaded and even bribed her with a free special dress which she had accepted, but in vain they pleaded. On the day of the event we were not there and my colleague from Ghana had to stand in for me!

On the level of public conduct, Mrs Wigwe has so intimidated and assaulted many people in Nairobi, men and women and staff of the High Commission alike that the High Commission no longer holds dinners, luncheons and other mandatory functions in the Residence. If in doubt, please ask around Nairobi. Mrs. Wigwe has assaulted and abused so many people at public gatherings in Nairobi that people fear to greet me when we meet at public functions. Mrs Wigwe hardly supports me in my work.

Although she struggles to have a copy my weekly programme and quarrels when my staffs forget to leave a copy for her, she often
criticises me for attending too many functions. When people commend me for the work that I do she feels offended and often complains that I am the reason why people don’t notice her. I have tried in vain to encourage her to do more social work or to consider doing a post graduate course in any of the universities in Nairobi, as a way of keeping her occupied and fulfilled.

But after three years living in Nairobi, she has not added any educational value to her degree.  On relations with staff of the Mission, Mrs Wigwe is a constant irritant. She considers herself as the ambassador and I her weak deputy. She calls staff and directs them on what to do. She intimidates the local staff and threatens to sack them and when I refuse to do so, we quarrel.

Mrs. Wigwe is in dire need of psychiatric examination or what religious persons may call spiritual deliverance, but over the many years and on each occasion when I or those close to us have advised her to do so, she had always ended up insulting us. But this woman needs help. Every woman who shakes hands with Dr
Wigwe is a threat to Mrs. Wigwe.

Even my female colleague ambassadors have not been spared. Mrs. Wigwe’s ten finger nails are painted and coloured differently ranging from blue, red, brown, and gold to yellow.  A different colour and pattern for each finger nail. Everybody sees something funny in that especially for a woman her age and status, but only Mrs Wigwe sees it as most fashionable and chic.

Mrs. Wigwe is desperate seeing that my posting is fast coming to an end. She badly needs money. She set me up and used me as a pawn by destroying me knowing that we were never going to be husband and wife again after Nairobi. Our coming together was only for the sake of sharing in the glamour and glory of high
office.

That was the motivating factor for her uncharacteristic concern for my welfare on that night of the 11th and that was why she refused to believe either I or her daughter and instead proceeded to generate an argument using provocative language. She had obviously concluded that Dr. Wigwe must not be allowed to leave Nairobi with honours on his back.

That was the plot and she found a willing accomplice who introduced her to a woman lawyer who is a friend to the Editor of the junk newspaper otherwise called the Star. That is how the Star has come to champion this fake and fraudulent story in an attempt to help the friend of a friend in her most difficult time of financial ruin and imminent suicide.

My daughter, Adanne and son Nelson Ikenna, had stormed the Star newspaper offices to protest the falsehood the Editor so shamelessly carried in her paper. The Editor had confessed to my children that she and the lawyer were actually friends. Two quality newspapers in Kenya namely the Nation and the Standard had refused to carry the junk story.

Nelson has further made a comprehensive statement to the Diplomatic Police, where he had met the Residence Security guard (name withheld) who had witnessed the actions of Mrs. Wigwe on the night of the event and had struggled in vain with the Cook and my son Nelson to restrain Mrs. Wigwe, with a “seriously damaged back and spine.”

Mrs Wigwe had coached, coaxed and incited him to misinform the police about what happened in order to make her story credible but fortunately for Truth and Justice and fortunately for the millions of men like me all over the world who are silently suffering and living under the Tyranny of a Woman, who are Living in Bondage, who are emotionally and physically abused and assaulted on a daily basis by their wives, who are forbidden to bring their relatives to the house, who are forbidden to bring visitors to the home, who are impoverished by gluttonous and greedy wives, the Christian
and God fearing Guard refused to be intimidated. May the Truth prevail.

Violence against Men is real and must be stopped. The stereotyping of men as being responsible for domestic violence has gone too far and has damaged permanently the reputation of so many good men.  Many men have lost their lives or have been forced to commit suicide because of over domineering and
manipulative women.

The female predators move on with glee to their next victim. Mrs Wigwe has proven beyond doubt my long held beliefs that “Truth is a lie repeated three times,” and another which says that “He
lies often who cries often.”

Nigerian High Commissioner Battered Me – Wife

0

NIGERIAN HIGN COMMISSIONER TO KENYA AND THE SEYCHELLES, CHIEF DR CHIJIOKE WILCOX.

THE wife of the Nigerian High Commissioner has written the Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere asking him to arrest the diplomat for assaulting her. Mrs Tess Iyi Wigwe accuses her husband Chief Dr Chijioke Wilcox Wigwe of  causing her serious bodily harm.

Wigwe is the High Commissioner to Kenya and the Seychelles. He is also the permanent representative of Nigeria to the United Nations Environmental Programme and the UN Habitat in Nairobi.

In a short biography Wigwe is described as a devoted lover of music of all kinds and genre ranging from Classical to New Age. “He enjoys singing and dancing, is an avid reader, writer of short poems, an art and opera lover with other interests including bird and aircraft- watching”.

Yesterday Wigwe denied battering his wife. He expressed shock that the police had been asked to arrest him. “I am shocked about her actions. They have not notified me of any plot against me. I have just arrived from a foreign trip,” he told the Star.
A letter from lawyer Judy Thongori to Iteere dated Monday (May 23) says Tess sustained injuries on the face, neck, fingers and spine after a quarrel which resulted in the beating on May 11.

In an exclusive interview with the Star yesterday, Tess said she was rescued by her 20-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter who rushed her to hospital while bleeding profusely.

The diplomat’s wife said she was admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, on May 11, operated on and discharged on Sunday, May 15. “I am still living in the ambassador’s residence. I still feel a lot of pain from the injuries despite the ongoing medications,” she said, adding that she had been advised by her doctors to be careful as the injuries to her lower back might lead to paralysis.

Tess, herself a lawyer with dual British and Nigerian citizenships, said she had suffered previous beatings by her husband during their long marriage. The couple has five children — four boys and a girl aged between 32 and 20 years. They have five grandchildren.

Tess said she had in 1999 left her husband due to his womanising and frequent beatings and went to live in the UK where she got a job. She claimed that he had two traditional marriages with two women during their separation.
Tess said he pleaded with her to join him when he got his posting to Nairobi in 2008. “I thought he had changed his ways and l was prevailed upon by the community to join him,” she told the Star.

Wigwe reported to his new station in May 2008 but Tess only joined him months later because she had to get a leave of absence from her employer in the UK. Tess said he beat up her in October that year when she questioned him about bringing strange women to their matrimonial home.

She said she kept the matter quiet but the relationship has become so bad that they have reached a point where he communicates with her by writing and leaving her notes. “This time, he left a note about his dinner. I told him his dinner was ready and asked him not to be asking for dinner to be prepared if he was not going to eat it. He grabbed me by the hand and when l tried to pull away, he hurled me against the wall before he started punching me,” she said.

Tess said she has opted to come out and explain her situation to show that domestic violence cuts across cultures, education and social standing. “I cannot keep quiet. I have kept quiet long enough,” Tess said.

From today Wigwe is expected to play host to a four-day Nollywood roadshow and fair organised by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, the Nigerian Guild of Actors and the Nigerian High Commission which is expected to culminate in a gala dinner at the Safari Park Hotel on Sunday night.

Yesterday lawyer Thongori who is acting on behalf of Tess said they would demand that Wigwe’s diplomatic immunity be lifted so that he could be prosecuted. “Though Dr Chijioke Wilcox Wigwe is a diplomat, we are of the considered view that any diplomatic immunity that he enjoys is subject to him upholding and respecting the fundamental rights of others as enshrined in the Constitution,” Thongori said in her letter to Iteere citing the rights which include freedom from torture, freedom from cruel and inhuman treatment.

Thongori told the Commissioner that her client wants her husband prosecuted. “We have instructions to demand the immediate prosecution of the husband in accordance with the law,” lawyer Thongori says in the letter.

No arrest can be made at the High Commission residence or offices of the embassy as they are considered the territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

GIS Unmasks Airport Security Gang

0
Ghanaer34fffffw434An American businessman by name David K who arrived in Ghana in 2010 in the hope of retrieving a quantity of gold he had invested tens of thousands of dollars into, is at his wits’ end as to how he fell prey to a 419 gang and compelling him to lose the fortune in deliberations with the group.

However the emerging revelation at the Headquarters of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) points to the fact that David’s entry documents processed by Sohin Security Checks Ltd Director Solomon Adelequaye’s Charges John Mensah, and Aaron Tetteh were fake.

When the U.S. businessman arrived, in Ghana in early part of 2010, he was met at the Kotoka International Airport by Adelaquaye’s boys, Messrs. John Mensah and Aaron Tetteh who offered to process and legitimize his stay in Ghana. However it turned out that the documents processed by Adelaquaye’s charges were faked, whose discovery David soon found out when he went to GIS to regularize his stay in Ghana.

THE SUN gathered that upon investigations by GIS, a report was forwarded to the Police CID to alert them on the outcome of their investigations. What raised further eyebrows was where exactly Adelaquaye’s boys obtained the fake immigration documents to do David in.

All efforts to speak to Adelaquaye over this and other related issues which are the subject of THE SUN’S SPOTLIGHT TEAM’s investigation, including a visit to Sohin Security Offices proved futile.

At New Achimota, The Spotlight Team was directed to Big Mama Restaurant near Jesus & Mary School, but none of the staff would want to link the paper to their boss after initially failing to acknowledge that he was the Managing director of the Company.

The story so hot on the stove is that the American’s tribulation started in May 2010, when through the internet he hooked onto the website of All Star Associates Ltd for the special reason that the company claimed it was into gold business.

Mr. David K then developed interest and therefore made contact with the official of the said All Star Associates Ltd. His enquiry uncovered the fact that a certain Solomon Adelaquaye of Sohin Security Checks Ltd sat at the head of the company as CEO.

Having showed much interest in the deal, David approached a friend in the USA who has average knowledge about the Ghanaian business terrain. During the discussion, David’s friend contacted one of his local Ghanaian friends to dig into the background of All Star Associates Ltd.

While due diligence was on-going, Adelaquaye and his charges, namely John Mensah and Aaron Tetteh agreed to send samples of the gold product to David in the USA. Somehow, the deliberations reached a crescendo requiring a follow up by the American.

However THE SUN’s spotlight team investigations into the whole brouhaha indicates that, it was a strategy adopted by Adelaquaye and his two charges of Mensah and Tetteh in a desperate attempt to get David bundled out of Ghana, a situation that could have led to the ‘killing’ of his case against the CEO of Sohin Security Checks Ltd.

Having stood his grounds, THE SUN can now report that all efforts are being made by the CID to prosecute the Sohin Security chief or get him to come clean on the misgivings raised by the distraught American.

Another contentious issue is, how on earth did even the National Security come to be dribbled as regards the detailing of Sohin to do security works at the Kotoka International Airport, when the company is stewed deep in controversy, raising questions if background checks were left to the dogs. THE SUN’s investigations still continue.

Foot-Soldiers seize Ashaiman lorry park

A group of young men were reported to have seized the Ashaiman Lorry Park and allegedly taken away revenue tickets from operators of the facility on Tuesday morning April 7.

News of their action spread so fast in the municipality, compelling most residents who were on their way to the main lorry park to either board vehicles to Accra or Tema to discontinue their journey for fear of being caught in the crossfire.

The group, according to some residents around the lorry park, comprised members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had embarked on a similar venture some time back, demanding the release of the facility to them when the NDC was voted into power.

They were alleged to have taken away some unspecified amount of money believed to be revenue from traders.

Even though DAILY GUIDE arrived at the park late, by which time the said foot-soldiers had left the scene, some of the residents narrated that the irate group stormed the park and demanded from revenue collectors, tickets and revenue for the morning.

The residents alleged that the refusal of the revenue collectors to yield to the demands of the foot-soldiers nearly created chaos, compelling some of them to call in the area?s police.

A revenue collector who refused to obey the orders of the group was said to have received serious beatings.

They were reported to have forcibly taken away the money and fled the scene in their numbers.

When DAILY GUIDE contacted Superintendent Peter Cobbina of the Ashaiman District Police over the issue, he said he was not aware of the situation, stressing that nothing of a sort was reported to his outfit.

He said his checks later revealed that the problem at the park was resolved, indicating that there was no arrest since no report was made to the police.

The same lorry park came under attack by some group of young men who identified themselves as members of the NDC in the area.

GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC POLICIES BREEDING CORRUPTION AND POVERTY IN GHANA

0

Ghanaians Abroad Against Corruption is appealling to President Mills and his government to review economic decisions and policies that are creating extreme hardship and desperate poverty. There is more work to do as people and families struggle with their finances, struggle to get loans from banks and also not being able to save any money from their wages .

We believe that the hardship being faced by most Ghanaians is forcing individuals to live beyond their means and causing the kind of corruption going on at our market places, offices, ports, schools and in government departments.

We believe it is time the President and Ministers work to

1. Address serious gas and electricity shortages plaguing the capital, Accra and several towns in the outlying areas.

2. Reduce high taxes and tariffs which are weakening small businesses.

3.Stop the excessive harassment of our traders and market women by our metropolitan council authorities and exempt them from paying the basic rate of tax to boost business.

4. The price of food is also rising steadily on essential commodities such as rice, sugar, flour, yams, meat and fish. The President must reduce tariffs on inputs to make it easy for importers to support farmers and traders in these commodities.

450 billon Ghana cedis has been lost through our main ports, Tema and Takoradi and our inland ports in 2 years through the collusion of some government ministers ,officials at the office of the presidency and some corrupt customs officers. These corrupt acts are destabilising to the nation’s security and prosperity and heads must roll for this poor state of affairs.

We also call on the President to support the work The Commission of Human rights and Administrative justice to pursue corrupt public officials and address wrongdoing in our society to promote accountability.

Professor Mills must be careful in underestimating the intelligence of the Ghanaian people in not confronting these challenges and dealing with them. There is also a perception that he has yet to show any willingness to condemn or crack down on indiscipline within his government, He must stamp his authority and get them to refocus on rebuilding trust with the public and delivering the government agenda.

Mr President please its time to act now.

Kwaku Frimpong (Dr)

2
“I’m a lovely guy. I love people and I love to chat with people”, are not quite what you will expect as the ideal phrases to describe the founder of one of Ghana’s most successful herbal-based medical facilities. Dr Kwaku Frimpong maintains that it is his love and empathy for others that have driven him this far in life.
Decisive, religious and philanthropic are the preeminent words that best describe Dr Kwaku Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of Champion Divine Clinic. His rather huge sense of humour adds to his persona, a fascinating character on any ordinary day.
It’s intriguing to know however that, but for his one year training at a pharmaceutical facility in Pakistan, the founder of the multimillion herbal-based health delivery centre has had no formal education in medicine or health care delivery.
Born to a family of 6, this “suborn yet reasonably sympathetic” son of a Missionary father and clothes trading mother, left the country after his Secondary School education at Kumasi High for greener pastures in Switzerland then in Germany, plying his trade as a footballer.
After years of unsuccessful attempts at securing himself a team contract, Dr Kwaku Frimpong returned to Ghana to start a retail business in auto-mechanical spear parts. All this while, he had not taken particular interest in herbal medicine or any item involving medical treatments;  until he and his wife where diagnosed of medical complications which resulted in conception difficulties.
Already a father of two with his first wife whom he had divorced, Dr Kwaku Frimpong said he and his new wife, Mrs Esther Frimpong became disturbed by what appeared a hopeless situation. In their desperate period they tried various treatments till they achieved success, aided by a herbal fertility drug introduced to him by a Pakistani business partner and friend.
“I saw the potential in it, when I witnessed what the medicine could do,” Dr Kwaku Frimpong said. Months after confirmed conception, he made arrangements with his Pakistani friend to visit his country and the production source of the drug. Business minded as he is, he took even keener interest in the drugs and quickly made plans to train at the facility in herbal medicine for fertility while keeping tabs on his auto-mechanic spare parts business back home.
Dr Kwaku Frimpong, returned home to soon become the major supplier of Pakistani herbal drugs – mostly for fertility – to a number of pharmacies. This he did for not less than two years before conceiving the idea of converting some rooms in his house into a health facility specialised in infertility.
After engaging the services of some medical personnel, he registered the Champion Homeopathic Clinic in 2002. The clinic was devoted to the treatment of conceptual complications and general fertility problems in both sexes.
Two years of operation brought to light the need to expand to cater for the increasing numbers who were coming to seek medical attention at the facility. Dr Kwaku Frimpong also realised the need to diversify into areas which were not directly related to the fertility of a person as had been the practice at the clinic.
The name of the health post was changed to Champion Divine Clinic to better reflect the new direction taken, which was to be the most preferred health facility in the world; providing quality health care at the most affordable price with guarantee.
Champion Divine Clinic is well on its way to achieving its target, opening brunches in other parts of the country. “We want to build an ultramodern clinic, first of its kind in the world. In ten years from now, quality health delivery should be truly accessible to all in Ghana. No one has to die from a disease that can easily be cured or even prevented.”
Champion, as he is affectionately called by friends and family, gave a rather religious tale as to why he chose the name champion saying it stems from a church sermon, ‘raising the champions’, by Pastor Salifo Amoako at Suame back in the year 2002. “He was preaching and all of a sudden he called me out of the congregation and said this man is going to be one of the champions in Ghana.” Memories of this day serve as an inspiration to Dr Kwaku Frimpong.
Besides running the Champion Divine Clinic, Dr Kwaku Frimpong has listed among his assets the Champion Estate, the Champion Hotel and the Star Plush mineral water. He is also the majority shareholder of the Phoenix Insurance Company.
Dr Kwaku Frimpong is hopeful that this life story will serve as an inspiration to the youth to do something for themselves and not to depend on others to provide them a source of livelihood. “My family did not support me; it’s God who supported me,” he said.
“The youth want quick money. They don’t want to serve but they want to be Kings, it’s impossible. You have to serve to learn from others, the art of leadership.”
Dr Kwaku Frimpong takes delight in prayer and football.

Where are today’s genuine soul-winners of God’s Kingdom?

0

• Continued from Wednesday March 23 edition

They dared not. In fact, woes and condemnations awaited them, if they did. So why do we do this today? Where are the genuine soul-winners of God today? Where are they? Why are genuine soul-winners so hard to come by today? Please wait a minute, and let me see how I may help you appreciate why genuine soul-winners are so hard to come-by tod a y.

You see, many of the so-called Christian teachings, supposedly meant for the salvation of mankind, which evolved through the politico-Christian power-players of the erstwhile Roman Empire, in the immediate post-apostolic times, did not have the power associated with the faith. The glaring potency and unique character of the Christian faith, seen at the start of the church in Jerusalem, on the Day of Pentecost and in the days following it, got lost completely, by the time Rome took upper-hand, in the selection and coronation of bishops for the church.

Once Rome became a force to reckon with, in the selection of leader-teachers for the church, weird non-Jesus teachings, started to rear their ugly heads in the church’s character and administration. What-with, all that history, about the cash-sales of indulgencies by bishops, as the fulfillment of their roles in the Great Commission of the Master, to win souls into his Kingdom?

How about the influx of high-office politicians, idol-worshippers indeed by their religion, who were wrongly considered as followers of Christ, and were thus admitted into the church, without obeying the prescribed rites for membership? These, and many others, are the root causes for the high level of corrupt doctrines to the Christian faith, which we find today.

Also, the persecutions to death, of the followers of Jesus Christ, a horrible notoriety of the history of the Romano-Christian tradition under Rome, in the immediate post-apostolic days, were aimed not at their persons, per se, but at getting people to accept, believe and act on corrupted and distorted versions of the teachings of Christ. Satan knew from the very beginning of Christianity that, if he could bring into the teachings of Christ, the minutest pollutants, he would succeed in rendering these teachings impotent, in fact useless, for the salvation of mankind.

And so he calculated his plans very well – waiting till the passing away into glory, all the saints of God, who talked, walked, and ate with the Messiah, before orchestrating his intrigues of deception, lies, and introduction of contaminants into God’s Word, to achieve his aims.

How much of the teachings of the Messiah, and of the apostles, do we find among people who profess to be Christians today? Many are comfortable with a system of codes and practices which are in every way, the doctrines of men. They blindly believe them, whole-heartedly, to be the doctrines of Christ.

Even the most serious-minded people, who claim to be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ today, have been misled to imbibe as the truth, many adulterated versions of the Word of God. In ignorance of this, they are so zealous in their beliefs in these impure versions, as to defend them with their lives, intolerant of, and hostile to the truth, whenever they are confronted with it.

If today we have so-called Men of God, presenting the salvation message of God in doctrines different from those of Jesus Christ and his apostles, then Rome, of the Second Century or thereabout, must take the blame. The entire leadership of present-day Christianity must also share in this, in being so gullible as to accept the falsehood and deception of that past, when the Bible is readily available for study and correction to these distortions to the teachings of Christ. I cannot help, but be very sad in this.

The genuine stewards of God are those who know how to truly function as soul-winners. They are those who know how to rightly divide the Word of God, discerning forgiveness from remission.

They are those with a thorough knowledge of the New Testament doctrines of God for the salvation of sinners. They are those who win souls in the waters of baptism in the name of Jesus Christ – using the skills and talents of fishermen, who are transformed into fishers of men.

Such are those Men of God who are indeed called, taught, and imputed with the wisdom of God on how to win souls, and sent out under the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God. These are those sent to do a job that the Son of God himself should have been doing, and therefore cannot afford to do it in their way, but in the Master’s; displaying his wisdom in their service to God’s Kingdom.

It is only such workers who are sure to gain commendation by the Master, as his Wise and Faithful Stewards, at his Second Coming. It is only such workers who qualify to be ushered into the gold-plated royal residences in Heaven, to live in ease and comfort throughout Eternity.

My dear one, are you truly a soul-winner? You who call yourselves Men of God, or are happy with such appellations by men: look to your ways and works closely, and in humility, change them for God’s ways.

Do this, so you do not get disappointed at the Gates of Heaven, on the Day of Judgment, when you and your many ignorant followers, are gathered as tares of no use to the Kingdom of God, but for fuel in the fires of Hell. I hope I have warned you enough. Shalom.

Sylvester A. Mensah

0
Before our encounter, I could only sense that a person with such a mammoth socio-political responsibility will have but little time to entertain my presence. “You are welcome, how may I help you?” said the tall dark smiling figure with his hand stretched out for a hand shake.
There, the impression was that it must be a delight to work with such a thoughtful, enthusiastic and motivated personality; traits which he did not fail to uphold, but rather reinforced during my half hour long interaction with him.
Sylvester A. Mensah is the Chief Executive of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Authority with oversight responsibility over the Mutual Health Insurance Schemes nationwide, a position he has occupied for almost two years.
The son of the late Mr Lovelace P. C. Mensah – a career diplomat and Mrs Christiana P. E. Mensah, Sylvester was born into a family of 9. Among his resourceful siblings is Gayheart E. Mensah, formerly of Ghanaian Times Corporation, Graphic Communications Group, Barclays Bank – Ghana Limited, Unilever Ghana Limited and now Corporate Affairs Manager of Tullow Oil Ghana.
Mr. Sylvester Mensah believes life becomes fulfilling when one avails himself to the service of society by taking on challenging social, economic and political ventures, and delivering without losing focus on followership, companionship and family.  His goal has been to leave a pleasantly indelible mark wherever he found himself.
His early ambition to become a medical doctor led him to read science at the GCE ‘O’level at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Boys Secondary School in Accra, before a change of heart led him into business studies at the GCE ‘A’ level at the Labone Secondary School in Accra.
After obtaining a Diploma in Political Economy at the Cottbus Political College in Germany, he returned to Ghana to successfully complete a Diploma in Public Administration and a BSc Degree in Administration at the University of Ghana Business School. He then served as a Member of Parliament for his local constituency before proceeding to the United Kingdom where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Leicester.  Mr. Mensah has also pursued a number of short certificate courses at the Harvard School of Public Health and the World Bank Institute in the USA.
Sylvester A. Mensah has made contributions to academia, lecturing at the Institute of Professional Studies and the Graduate School of the Central University, Ghana.  He admits that it still gives him joy when former students call to express gratitude for his contribution into their lives, as well as seek professional advice and guidance for their occupations.
In banking, Mr Mensah found himself heading Public Sector Banking at the Intercontinental Bank – Ghana Limited.  Prior to that, he was a pioneering member and played a key role in the National Mobilisation Programme, where he began as District Liaison Officer and rose to the Regional Director in the capital region – Accra. Sylvester’s active political career came to lime light when he became the first Regional Youth Organiser for the Greater Accra Region of his political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 1992.
For over three terms, stretching seven years, he was the Greater Accra Regional Secretary for the NDC political party, until he resigned his position in September 2001 to pursue post graduate studies.  Mr. Mensah’s political life assumed greater heights when he was voted Member of Parliament for the Dede-Kotopon Constituency from 1996 to 2001. Though he hasn’t been on the political front-line for a while as he leads the NHIA as a technocrat, he leaves the door open for future active and front-line political engagements.
Mr Mensah who predictably worked indefatigably for his Constituency, trusts that his contribution to the unity of the people he represented as well as the level of development during his time is unprecedented; “I’m sure that the Constituency today will count me as one of the successful MPs of the constituency.”
In all his political strive he hasn’t lost faith in his Maker. He worships at the Word Miracle Church International and functions as a Member of the Board of Trustees of this international church.
Under his watch, the National Health Insurance Scheme has seen massive improvement in its operations, leading to a relatively more efficient management and cordial relationship with its subscribers and many stakeholders, warranting international recognition. Personally, he has been credited for his innovation, creativity and leadership while the scheme has been adjudged one of the leading on the African continent and one of the most viable and promising social health service interventions within the South-South Region of the world at large.
“As the CEO of the NHIA, I believe together with my colleagues we have brought life into the health system of Ghana”, he said. “I consider this as a modest achievement which I don’t ascribe to myself but to the team with which I’ve been able to work to achieve this.”
The national health insurance is the most important social protection policy that any country can ever have, he eulogised. “Any social intervention policy that embraces more than 50 per cent of the population is significantly huge.” Ghana’s NHIS is estimated to cover over 65 per cent of the populace.
Sly as he is affectionately called, wants more than 90 per cent of the population to be beneficiaries of the NHIS, ten years from now, with improved quality care and relatively high subscriber satisfaction. “The one-time premium for subscribers of the NHIS is feasible, and the implementation plan is almost ready” he revealed.
“What keeps me going is the ability to develop new ideas, implement them and achieve the expected outcome. What really motivates me is the fear of failure; it drives me to perform because I never want to be associated with failure. What keeps me alive and maintains my sanity is my ability to make myself useful to others.”
A believer in destiny, who shares in the saying that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord (Romans 8:28). He maintains that “the whole concept of life is foundered on principled and informed competition and struggle that never ends” and enrols largely in the concept of destiny as defined by the choices and decisions that one makes, and adds that he also believes in divine influence in achieving a perceived future.
“I’ve not had major regrets in my life except that changes in direction and opinion have been inevitable as this comes with insight and maturity. When you are a child you behave like a child, as you grow insight, experience and incremental maturity informs your actions and utterances.”
Sylvester Mensah is poised to leave a legacy at the National Health Insurance Authority as he did for his former constituency. Reminiscent of the President’s dream big proclamation in his address to Parliament, he believes Ghana would achieve greater heights than it currently finds itself.
“We have always had what we bargain for as a people”, he said, explaining that the level of development of any country is a reflection of their collective input informed by the times and the manners, and available talents and capacities which drive policy options and decisions. We need to continue investing greater effort, time and thinking to all our endeavours to maintain the trust reposed on us.
Besides watching football, Mr Mensah is also a country and gospel music lover. He might make visits to his kitchen in all likelihood to prepare Banku and Okra Stew, his favourite.

Vaccination for over 200,000 persons in UWR against yellow fever to cost GH¢110,000

0

Health workers in the Upper West Region are preparing to embark on a yellow fever vaccination campaign in three of its nine districts that had recorded six cases of the disease.

About 214, 494 persons, especially one-year old children, would be vaccinated with 248,000 doses of yellow fever vaccines allocated to the region within one week, Dr. Kofi Issah, Deputy Director of Public Health, has said.

Dr. Issah was briefing members of the Upper West Regional Epidemic Preparedness Committee on the yellow fever situation in region at a meeting in Wa on Monday.

He said Wa East District has been the worst hit, recording four cases with one death, while Jirapa and Nadowli Districts also recorded a case each.

It is expected that 61,127 persons would vaccinated in Jirapa District, 61,219 persons in Wa East District and 92,598 persons in the Nadowli District.

The campaign would involve 276 health staff and 32 supervisors and would cost the Health Directorate GH¢110,106.00, Dr. Issah said.

He said about 90 per cent of the targeted population would be vaccinated against the disease and that district and sub-district teams had been trained in vaccination and other aspects of the exercise to be carried out on November 22.

Dr. Issah said the region would receive 340,000 mosquito nets in February next year under the Malaria Control Programme and would be distributed in the nine districts of the region  to help reduce malaria.

Three districts, namely Wa Muncipal, Wa East and Wa WestdDistricts would however benefit from Ashanti Gold  five-year sustained indoor residual spraying programme to reduce the population of mosquitoes.

The Upper West Regional Directorate of Ghana Health Service in collaboration with the Ashanti Gold would implement the programme.

From seedlings to trees – the challenges and considerations for all tree planting initiatives

As a follow up to the previous article on deforestation, I like to now look at how to plant and cater for trees. This is intended for individuals or institutions that wish to plant trees but have little or no expertise. Before I progress, I like to state that even though everyone can plant a tree, it is not every one that can raise a tree. Trees are just like children in my view. Just like how every man may father a child but may not be able to raise that child so is the situation with tree planting. It is one thing planting a tree and a completely different thing raising that tree. To raise a tree is to cater for the tree by protecting it and providing all that it needs to grow.

Most times we hear about tree planting activities by one organization or the other usually on some special days (anniversaries and the like) but we never get to know what happens to those trees after such activities. Tree planting can be done on special days, but tree nursing should be done every day. During the Ghana at 50 celebrations, trees were planted in many places across the country, but how many of these trees have been able to survive? I do not have an exact answer to this question however newspaper reports of 30th May 2007 (published on myjoyonline.com) indicated that some of these trees were dying, using some 1000 trees planted in Ho Municipality as a case in point. As we all know, trees are unable to move from one place to another and so they are more prone to a wide range of problems than animals which can simply move away if the environment is not favourable.
Choosing the right species and transplanting seedlings
Before embarking on tree planting, one must first make some considerations to ensure that the right species is selected for the site of planting (site-species matching). For example, the water requirement of the species should be assessed against the site of planting. Seedlings that require a high amount of water are likely to die in drought prone areas if irrigation is not done and so drought tolerant species should be preferred.
Also, the species must be desirable and provide the kind of benefits that the owner anticipates; e.g. shade, timber, fodder, fuel wood. Such decisions are necessary to avoid problems that may arise later after the tree has already grown. If the institution or individual initiating the planting lacks expertise in tree planting, then it is advisable to consult experts for advice. It is advisable to transplant seedlings at the beginning of the rainy season. The perfect time of day to move the seedling is during morning hours when the humidity is high. Seedlings should be transplanted once they have developed 3 to 4 true leaves.
The hole for planting must be deep enough to accommodate roots without twisting and breaking either the roots or the soil ball. The hole should also be large enough to provide enough aeration and enough loose soil for the young roots to be able to penetrate. The plant should not be put too deep in the soil and should not also be too exposed. As a rule of thumb, it should be ensured that the roots are totally buried in the soil to prevent them from drying out. After transplanting seedlings, they must be provided with enough water to ensure that the roots are well established in the new growing environment.
We must also ensure that the soil is right for the species. Seedlings are delicate and so we may have to use humus soil. In this regard, we may dig out the soil from the hole and refill the hole with humus to a certain height before putting in the seedling.
During dry season, it is also necessary to provide mulch and to water the transplanted seedling. It is extremely important that the newly planted tree has adequate initial moisture. It is however, not advisable to fertilize the seedling during the first year of transplanting.
Protecting trees
After planting seedlings, there is the need to constantly monitor the progress of growth. By observing seedlings regularly, we are able to notice any negative signs early enough to take action. Seedlings are very tender and prone to all sorts of damage threats. They should therefore be fenced to prevent animals from eating shoots or breaking them especially if planting is in cities. Fences should be spacious enough to allow enough aeration and light in for the use of the seedling. Also, fences used must be solid to ensure that they do not easily fall over otherwise the fence will rather destroy the seedling when it falls.
Maintaining trees
In choosing a particular tree species or combination of species for planting, thought should be given to the need for future management. Factors that should be borne in mind include:
water requirements: need for irrigation should be considered right from the beginning and drought-tolerant species should be selected if irrigation is difficult to arrange)
growth rate: need for weeding and other care will be less for fast-growing species
susceptibility to disease: maintenance costs of disease-resistant species/varieties or cultivars are likely to be lower
growth habit: some trees may require pruning to maintain the desired form or foliage; this may also increase maintenance costs
Trees should be pruned regularly to maintain good health and longevity. An effective pruning program helps trees resist wind and help reduce tree hazards. If the planner knows that trees will not receive any pruning once they are in the landscape, then a tree with a naturally good structure (e.g. excurrent growth habit) is preferred.
In conclusion, let us keep in mind that raising trees can be quite an expensive venture. There are many considerations to make and the points discussed in this article are by no means exhaustive. We should at least provide fencing to protect seedlings against damage by animals. We should also consider watering seedlings especially during the dry season.
For those individuals and institutions or organizations who wish to plant trees, you can send an email to [email protected] for any inquires you might have about tree planting. We are ready and willing to share experiences with you and to go through with you step by step to raise a tree.
Remember when the last tree dies, the last man dies!

Ghana’s total debt stock up 34 per cent in 2011

0

Ghana’s total debt rose by 34.09 per cent rising to GH¢23.6 billion (over $14 billion), equivalent to 44.2 percent of Gross Domestic Product, the central bank governor announced.

??Domestic debt increased by 43 per cent year-on-year to GH¢11.84 billion in 2011, from GH¢8.3 billion the previous year, while external debt stock also increased by 20.1 per cent compared the corresponding period in 2010.

Presenting a report from the Monetary Policy report, central bank governor, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, on Wednesday said fiscal operations saw revenue and grants in 2011 amounting to GH¢10.7 billion, compared to GH¢7.5 billion in 2010.

Total expenditure, on the other hand, was GH¢12.7 billion in 2011, compared to GH¢9.2 billion in 2010 with wages, salaries and related expenditures surging from a little over GH¢2 billion to GH¢5.2 billion.??

“Fiscal operations in 2011, therefore, resulted in a narrow budget deficit of GH¢2.1 billion and was financed mainly through the issuance of domestic bonds,” the governor said.

Net Domestic Financing of GH¢2.1 billion was within the projected target of GH¢2.4 billion.

On the external front, the country’s overall balance of payments recorded a surplus of GH¢941.07 million in 2011, significantly down from the GH¢1.5 billion surplus recorded in 2010. Amissah-Arthur attributed the decline to the widening of the current account deficit.

The current account balance worsened in 2011 as a result of increased net outflows in the Services and Income Account, which rose to US$3.1 billion in 2011 from $2.1 billion in 2010.

Total merchandise exports grew by 60.6 per cent in 2011 to $12.7 billion, supported by oil exports and favourable commodity prices. ??Gold exports amounted to $4.9 billion while cocoa beans totalled $2 billion and the value of crude oil exports was $2.7 billion over the same period.

Total merchandise imports grew by 46.2 percent in 2011 to $15.9 billion.?? Crude oil imports amounted to US$1.4 billion while imports of refined oil products were $1.7 billion and gas imports were estimated at $172.8 million.

Total non-oil imports amounted to $12.7 billion and by end-use, capital imports were $2.7 billion, intermediate imports amounted to $6.1 billion, consumption goods, $3.0 billion and others constituted $900 million.

The governor noted that the rapid growth in imports 2011 and the unusual surge in demand for foreign exchange during the last quarter of the year created a misalignment in the bank’s foreign exchange cash flow.

The Capital and Financial Account surplus improved to $4.5 billion in 2011 from a surplus of $4.3 billion in 2010, driven by net inflows of private capital investments mainly into the oil sector.??

Gross international Reserves of the Bank of Ghana improved to US$5.4 billion in 2011 from US$4.7 billion in 2010, but Amissah-Arthur said that declined to GH¢4.6 billion as at January 2012 due to the increased demand for foreign exchange resulting from the higher than normal surge in seasonal demand to support trade.

Omar Baa Oumson

1

Affable, attractive and talented will be attributes that put him right in the middle of what many wrote off as a dying industry. At a time when Ghanaian movies came no close to matching those from Africas’ most populous nation, Omar Baa Oumson and his generation of actors and actresses appeared on scene to salvage what remained. Soon Ghana could boast of a formidable movie industry still growing in international proportions.

Never lacking a bright smile, there always seem to be something about Omar, especially on set that makes him a delight to watch so much that he could even steal the shine from the lead actor/actress of a movie.

He gained an unrivalled mindshare in Ghanaian movie lovers after casting in 2007 classic, Crime to Christ. He was in the movie alongside Madjid Michel , Yvonne Nelson, Naana Hayford and Gavivina Tamakloe.

Thought ethnically Fulani, ‘Trinity by Nationality’ is how Omar Baa Oumson describes his origin; African by Spirit, Ghanaian by Soul and Sierra Leonean by flesh. His early life begun in Freetown -Sierra Leone, with his family. Definitely a family man, Omar believes the love, affection and support he got from his parents makes them the finest ever to walk the face of the earth.

Born in the early 1970’s he nurtured childhood fantasies of becoming a pilot when he becomes an adult but as he grew older and the puzzle of life fell in place he found himself pursuing a rather different career within the entertainment industry.

Omar Baa Oumson has always been an attention lover; he takes pleasure in putting a smile on a sad face through a genuine display of his entertaining talents. He has a rap music single to his name, released in 1989. He happens to exhibit proficiency in choreography and dancing.

Oumson holds a degree in French and Tourism from the Université Cheikh Anta Diopn (Cheikh Anta Diop University) in Dakar, Senegal. While in school he became the head of English students studying French at the University, underscoring his capabilities as a leader (political and otherwise).

His first appearance on the Ghanaian set was in Shirley Frimpong Manso’s ‘Different Shades of Blue’ – a television series about five university girls who shared a hostel room. Now Omar can count over 20 movies in which he has stared – dozens are in the pipeline soon to hit the screens.

Besides acting, Omar is a script writer, programmes organiser, radio presenter and linguist (English and French). He hosts a radio music programme Criss-Cross Africa on Citi FM, Accra. His lingual proficiencies have taken him across continents.

Omar expressed strong emotions against the increasing phenomenon of nudity in Ghanaian movies. “it’s crazy ,man, it’s crazy’. I don’t blame the producers or actors but blame the public,” he said. He thought the public’s continuous purchase of such movies motivate movie producers to make more of such movies to meet rising demands. “Those who complain are very few, majority are those who buy the movies.”

The actor harbours some quite revolutionary political ideas. “Democracy is not good for Africa”. In his view, it further separates Africans along the artificial boundaries that were set by the colonial masters. Monarchy or unity in political ideology is the way to go. Omar is a Pan-Africanist (Nkrumaist). He hopes to find himself within the ranks of ECOWAS or the AU canvasing for an immediate unity of African states.

Omar is a self-confessed fashion freak. That is at least one thing that is common between the characters he plays on set and his lifestyle. He enjoys the attention, “if I go to a party for instance and somebody is better dressed than me, I will go home and change.”

The programmes organiser is working on a project which he believes will aid in educating persons in West Africa’s English speaking countries about their counterparts in French countries. The saying that the English are very ignorant of the French is true he said, referring to observations he made during his numerous travels and interaction with both parties as a bases.

As his hobbies you will find Omar Baa Oumson partying or shopping.

He has words of encouragement for young movie producers that they pursue their trade with commitment and diligence as it is a very powerful tool to exhibit the rich Ghanaian culture and the beauty in African diversity.

Musician Asem accused of rape

Asem, known in private life as Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah, has allegedly lured a school girl into his Achimota home and had sex with her while she was intoxicated by a drug he allegedly put in her drink.

The story, published in Flex newspaper and written by journalist Attractive Mustapha, is known as Mustapha Inusah.

I thought I was just feeling sleepy naturally so I allowed myself to sleep. I only woke up and realized that my virginity had been broken with blood on me. “That was when I knew I had been raped. I could not tell my mum who happens to be a teacher in a Senior High School since she would not have taken it kindly. I only went to the Maamobi Polyclinic and the doctor told me I was pregnant. I told Asem I was pregnant but he did not mind me till even now, though I hid it from my mum.” The minor told the newspaper captured by

Ama Benyiwa Doe Must Face Justice!

0

I and the family of Mr Doe in Keta (V.R) are dumbfounded when we read a response through the Lawyers of Mrs Benyiwa Doe to the Ghana Media Commission in the Ghanaian Daily Guide newspaper on Monday, January 17, 2011 denying with arrogance that She (Benyiwa Doe) “Did not Kill Her Husband Mr Doe”.

I am Dennis Doe-Vormavor, The Interim Chairman of Ghanaians Abroad Against Corruption and a Nephew of Mr Doe (Late husband of Mrs Benyiwa Doe). I say with astonishment and extreme anger that Honourable Minister Benyiwa Doe has had the effrontery to deny through her Lawyers to the Ghana Media Commission that she did not kill her husband with poisonous substance. In fact, in her effort to try and deny her iniquitous act, she failed to explain to Ghanaians how she killed my uncle (Mr Doe) if not through poison.

Since my statement was published that she killed her husband (my uncle) with a poison in Nigeria in the 1980’s,poison which a pathologist report confirmed that high doses of rat poison was found in Mr Doe’s bloodstream. the Criminal Investigating Dept of Ghana Police have shown no sign of investigating the matter until we all heard the denial from the Honourable Minister – Mrs Benyiwa Doe through her Lawyers to the Ghana Media Commission.

I deem the denial through her solicitors to the Ghana Media Commission as ridiculous and not enough since the matter is a criminal offence committed by Mrs Benyiwa Doe. I would have expected the C.I.D of Police or the Attorney General to lodge an investigation into the matter. The Ghana government must not cover up murder!

Though I am a resident in Glasgow UK I am prepared to come down to Ghana with more credible evidence and as a witness to show that indeed Ama Benyiwa Doe killed my uncle, provided my safety and security can be guaranteed by the state. I have also spoken with Mrs Arkoh (a Ghanaian) in London who was the Senior Nurse on duty during the postmortem of my late Uncle Mr Doe in Nigeria and is also willing to come down to testify of what she knows about the death of Mr Doe if her security can be assured.

In fact, it is rather unfortunate that one woman who could have even testified before I do so is late honourable Hawa Yakubu who was with Madam Benyiwa in Nigeria during that time but died mysteriously. So now, who poisoned Honourable Hawa Yakubu at the party? This is a food for thought.

I believe that Mrs Benyiwa Doe’s denial through her Lawyers to the Ghana Media Commission as reported by the Daily Guide news paper has raised more questions than answers.

Some of the questions are:

1. Why did Mrs Benyiwa Doe fail to explain to Ghanaians how my uncle (Mr Doe) died if she did not poison him?

2. Why did Nigerian Authorities suspect foul play in Mr Doe’s death and opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

3. Why Mrs Benyiwa Doe has to flee to Ghana under a Diplomatic Immunity (though not Ghanaian government official) whilst the investigation was in progress in Nigeria?

4. Is Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe not living with her late husband’s child in Ghana after poisoning Mr Doe to death?

Ironically, I believe many Ghanaians are still surprised to hear more this unfolding story concerning the death of my uncle (Mr Doe) who was allegedly poisoned in Nigeria by his wife Mrs Benyiwa Doe who is the current regional minister of Central Region.
Mrs Ama Benyiwa used to work at the University of Ghana, Legon administration as a typist and got married to my uncle who was also a lecturer at the university. Eventually, Mr and Mrs Doe moved to settle in Nigeria in the 1980s.

In Nigeria, Mr and Mrs Doe tried tirelessly for a child but could not produce one and as today, Ama Benyiwa has no child of own. Mr Doe – the husband, seemingly lost interest and Mrs Ama Benyiwa resorted to accusing her husband Mr Doe of womanizing and cheating on her. The situation became worse when Mr. Doe befriended a Nigerian woman (Ms. Tolou) in Lagos.

Mr Doe’s girl friend had a child for him and as the result Mrs Benyiwa Doe could not hold her anger and therefore decided to eliminate the Husband with poisonous substances which created a debilitating effect on my uncle which eventually led to his death. The Nigerian authorities suspected foul play in Mr Doe’s death and therefore opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Interestingly, to cover up her deeds from her accusers, Ama Benyiwa quickly camouflaged the Nigerian security and the investigation team at the time by adopting the child from her late husband’s beautiful girl friend. Ama eventually sold my uncle’s assets and then fled to Ghana under a diplomatic immunity by the then Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria with the help of Ghana Foreign Affairs dept under Prez Rawlings. Now, if she claims nothing fishy happened, why the rush to sell the assets of the late husband and flee to Ghana shortly after the death of my uncle? Who was chasing her?

As at today, there’s credible information that Ama Benyiwa Doe is currently wanted in Nigeria to answer allegations of murder of her husband Mr Doe. We also want to assure you that your denial through your Lawyers to the G.M.C is the genesis of the battle, so the honourable Minister Ama Benyiwa should not think that she’s gotten away with the murder of my uncle. Ama has to face the due punishment of the law. This wicked crime can no longer be swept under the carpet!

Though the Nigerian security is still investigating this case according to a reliable source, we also want urge the Ghanaian authorities to lodge an investigation into this atrocious act perpetuated by the honourable Minister Ama Benyiwa Doe.

Its still beggar’s belief that the President and the Parliament of Ghana could still allow a murderer to continue as a Minister representing the good hardworking people of Central Region.

I call on the President, The Ghanaian Authorities and National Security to investigate this matter and together with Interpol should extradite Ama Benyiwa Doe to Nigeria to face Justice!!

UN AND ECOWAS MUST INVESTIGATE GHANAIAN GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR LAURENT GBAGBO

0

Ghanaians Abroad against Corruption is appealing to The UN Secretary General and the Ecowas, to investigate the circumstances whereby elements of the Ghanaian National Security services, and advisors of Ghanaian President John Atta Mills authorised the supply of military equipment, namely pistols, ammunition, rocket propelled launchers, bullet proof vests and two way’/adios to Laurent Gbagbo.

, Our sources on the Ghanaian -Ivorian Border stated that on Christmas Day at 2.am 400 members of the ruling party militia, the United Cadres Front, “crossed the border town of Enchi in Ghana into Cote d ivoire and headed south to a rendezvous point at Grand Bassam in Cote d Ivoire.

Close allies of Laurent Gbagbo have set up a command post to receive these men. Though the aims of objectives of these men are not clear, it is believed they are to act as a search and destroy unit and to thwart forces loyal to Mr Alhassane Ouatarra from taking key installations around the capital and to support the Ivorian army factions loyal to Mr Gbagbo.

The Ghanaian Government we have learnt has bowed to pressure from their National Security outfit to support Mr Gbagbo with financial assistance. We condemn this decision as it undermines the efforts of the African Union and Ecowas, the regional body to bring the crisis to an end.

We also expressed serious reservations about the involvement of Ex President Mr Jerry Rawlings, and Mr Kojo Tsikata, former Head of the Ghanaian Intelligence services, 1982-1995 and currently special advisor on National Security, Foreign Intelligence and Elections under President Mills as well as elements of the Ghanaian security services. We know that elements of the United Cadres front militia are very skilled and well drilled. All are former members of the Committee for the Defence of the Revolution (CDRs) and the defunct Forces Reserve Battalion (FRB) which existed under the 19 year rule of Mr Jerry Rawlings. Most of these individuals also received training in Libya. We ask the United Nations to investigate why elements who are not part of the Ghanaian army are being sent to Cote d Ivoire without any proper mandate to prop up and support a government whose current legality is in dispute and also why military equipment is being supplied, just satisfy vested interests in violation of international Law.

IMANI Names Top 5 Public Sector Leaders For 2010

?And worst 5 to boot

* in Ghana*

Imani
Imani

In the finest tradition of civil society activism, the right philosophy is
to be critical of government, in all its forms.

In liberal democracies, like Ghana has gradually become, the government pays
enough people to sing its praises that civil groups who spend their time
flattering the incumbent administration would very quickly become redundant.

Evidence-based criticism is a niche that groups like us have been rushing to
fill ever since our democracy matured in the late 90s. Even where government
has been manifestly successful, we rarely see the need to offer praise,
since it is the moral duty of a government to do right by its citizens. In a
democracy, the government does not conduct itself creditably because of its
magnanimity. It does so to survive, which by definition cannot be considered
praiseworthy.

When they fall short of the glory of the constitution, however, it is
important that we are loud in our reproof. For, it amounts to a breach of
great oaths, which they have voluntarily taken. Our culture, at least,
frowns on breakers of oath.

All the above notwithstanding, sometimes, praise can be utilised for
critical purposes. By highlighting good behaviour on the part of specific
institutions and individual actors, the spotlight necessarily turns
afterwards to the failing conduct of other institutions and actors. That is
to say, it is possible to highlight in order to contrast.

That is why for the first time IMANI-Ghana has decided to release a list of
the top 5 most inspirational public sector leaders in Ghana for the year
2010.

In the finest tradition of rating lists, the assessments implied by the
rankings reflect the opinions of those keen observers of the public sphere
who were approached. They reflect a review of media accounts, policy
statements, public records and documented outcomes from the perspective of
independent researchers who nonetheless would have their personal biases as
to what constitutes ?accomplishment?.

The methodology undergirding this ranking is quite straightforward,
actually. We graded a vast number of public sector institutions according to
our three-prong criteria:

*Independence*. Has the institution demonstrated significant independence
from the central government to the extent that the resulting autonomy has
shielded it, to a reasonable extent, from the arbitrary will of
partisan-minded politicians?

*Public Engagement*. Has this institution avoided easy and convenient
propaganda and focussed on providing information to the general public that
is reliable, accurate, thoughtful and useful for the purposes of assessing
the institution?s challenges, performance and objectives? Have they told the
citizenry the hard facts of policy choices and kept away from gratuitous
controversy?

*Promise of Transformation*. The challenges that confront all facets of our
national life are many, deep and complex. Even great leadership would not
succeed in delivering instant results. However, has the institution under
consideration articulated by dint of hard work and persuasive argument an
end in sight that is uplifting and empowering such that its followers and
the general public can dare to hope that transformation may be imminent?

But this is a list of leadership, to wit: inspirational leadership. Thus,
once the institutions had been agreed upon, the rake that was used to winnow
the list down even further was that of clear and unambiguous evidence that
leadership is at play here. Our bias was to look for evidence of exemplary
leadership by the Chief Executive though we were also quite ready to concede
that in some instances leadership appeared to emerge with collective
features. But that is where the quibbling over leadership theory ended.

We all know leadership when we see it. Has this public sector leader
demonstrated resolve in leading her institution to pursue a clearly
articulated vision even in the face of limited resources and the pressures
of conformity in an environment of cheap politics?

When all was said and done, our team and external consultants settled on the
following inspirational leaders of 5 promising state institutions.

1. *Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur*, Governor of the Bank of Ghana

The Governor impressed us with his conduct of the affairs of the Monetary
Policy Committee in particular, though there is evidence that other aspects
of the Bank?s work, such as banking inspection, have also improved. Despite
pressure from political forces to go beyond moral suasion in compelling the
banks to reduce interest rates, the Governor has been unwavering in going
where the evidence leads. Diplomatically, he has rebuked the government to
pay the contractors and stop dithering, since this has an effect on
non-performing loans in the system, and by extension lending rates. In the
words of Friedman, ?inflation everywhere is a monetary phenomenon?. What
this quip means in this context is that the Governor?s conduct of monetary
policy has more than contributed to the era of stable inflation and the
stable national currency. His attitude to his duties has helped stem the
loss of investor confidence that marked the early months of 2009. He may be
dour, but only in a manner quite becoming of a guy who has his fingers on
the nation?s purse strings.

1. *Alfred Oko Vanderpuije*, Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan
Assembly

After a number of false starts, the Mayor quickly settled into the hot seat
of managing the affairs of the country?s most politically sensitive city. We
were unimpressed in the early months of his administration, especially
during the botched decongestion exercise, and we still have a few unresolved
policy differences with him about the right approach to urban ?planning?.
The jury is also still out on his sanitation policy, which some have
interpreted as a ?get Zoomlion? strategy, and also on his outdoor
advertising directives. But the Mayor is fast learning to focus the energies
of the assembly on the big picture. His symbolic raids on government
agencies in pursuit of property rates arrears and his optimistic courting of
Jeffrey Sachs? Millennium City initiative are all testimony to a
determination to ?transform? how city management is done in Ghana. He has
refrained from involving himself in petty partisan squabbles and maintained
a balanced posture with respect to Accra?s many chieftaincy and other
sectarian faultlines. He wants greater devolution of power from the central
government to the towns and regions, and he has even begun developing
investment plans for some of the most challenging sectors under his
jurisdiction. The results are yet to change the fortunes of the city, but we
were inspired by his energy and commitment.

1. *Akwasi Osei*, Chief Psychiatrist, Accra Psychiatric Hospital

For many years, the Chief Psychiatrist was almost a lone crusader for mental
health policy reforms in this country. Today, he has been joined by a number
of non-governmental organisations and won the attention of the President.
Some have faulted his professional diplomacy skills, following persistent
falling outs with the sector Minister. But what the Chief Psychiatrist lacks
in negotiation skills, he more than makes up for it with relentless focus,
determination and dedication. His knowledge of psychiatric issues and the
policy environment is encyclopaedic, even daunting. He has also shown that
he has a streak of positive opportunism in him. Seizing on the Anas Aremeyaw
exposes, rather than feel indicted by it, he has forced mental health issues
up the media?s priority list for the health sector, bringing into sharp
focus such matters as alcohol regulation, substance abuse, and
community-based care. And by reminding all of us that there is one
psychiatrist for every 2 million Ghanaians, Akwasi Osei has changed the
terms of the debate. He isn?t bringing a neglected issue to our attention;
he is exposing the hollowness of our Ghanaian civilisation.

1. *The Commissioners* of the Commission for Human Rights &
Administrative Justice

CHRAJ?s managers never hide from the fact that there is a host of human
rights issues across the breadth and depth of this country that their
limited resources and personnel prevent them from even remotely addressing.
But there has never been a doubt about the organisation?s direction. This
year, they have navigated political controversy and militant cynicism, and
come out with their reputation intact. They have been vocal in urging
greater speed in prisons reforms, and been loud in their denunciation of the
mob mentality that still dogs nominally liberal-democratic Ghana. They have
firmly planted the issue of disability rights in the labour reform agenda of
Ghana. When ?decongestion? became a lazy excuse for haphazard demolition
activities, CHRAJ descended upon municipal authorities, giving much impetus
to public interest activists who took to the Law Courts to redress the
excesses of these so-called ?urban planning? programs. CHRAJ has never
missed an opportunity this year to paint for all of us what a ?decent and
humane society? looks like.

1. *The Frontline Staff* of the National Disaster Management Organisation

NADMO failed to take major steps towards achieving the organisation?s own
objective of transforming into a comprehensive risk preventive system for
the country from its current status as a disaster response agency. But the
organisation?s field staff need to be commended for their valiant efforts
this year in responding to multiple incidents, predominantly
flooding-related, across the country. Lack of policy robustness
notwithstanding, these underpaid personnel responded quite creditably to
tragedies across the length and breadth of our nation, from the marshy banks
of the Volta to the arid grasslands of the Savannah. Many risked their
lives, as they wrestled against the elements, working without the right
equipment and protective gear. Their actions are the stuff of which genuine
patriotism is made of, and not the bombastic rhetoric of the Accra elite.

So there you have it.

As we said at the very beginning, this is a list of the most inspirational
public sector leaders 2010 gave us. And that indeed is the focus of this
report, but we couldn?t help taking a jab at some of the public sector
institutions that have been most egregious in flouting the list of 3
?virtues? we outlined earlier on. If we were compelled to produce a list of
the 5 least inspirational institutions, we would have gone for the
following:

1. *Ghana Statistical Service:* for mucking up a vital national exercise
as the Census (none of the authors of this report was ?counted?), and
generally larking about with essential public communications of crucial
policy relevance, such as the rebasing fiasco.
2. *Brand Ghana Office*: for raising our hopes of a new era of strategic
national image development, and promptly dashing all of them. True, several
public sector institutions seem dormant too. Forestry and Wildlife
Commission; Water Resources Commission; Chieftaincy Secretariat etc., are
just a few examples of dozens of lazing bureaucracies maintained out of
public funds to what purpose only God knows. But Brand Ghana takes the can
because of the fun fair which surrounded its launch and the audacity of the
PR fraud that was perpetrated on us, the poor citizenry of Ghana. No doubt
its managers shall blame their abysmal performance on resource constraints,
but there are many civil society and private sector organisations labouring
under similar challenges that nevertheless ?makes an effort? to be relevant.
At any rate, we feel that this phantom state body is a good placeholder for
the many state institutions that hide behind the ?no money? slogan to waste
our time and limited resources in this country.
3. *Public Utilities Regulatory Commission*: not that we have any
disrespect for the very capable professionals who are in charge of this
body. But the truth is that we have seen little in the way of clear
regulatory decision-making about how to improve on the quality of the
service delivery of the vital utilities. Next year, we hope they up their
game.
4. *National Communications Authority*: for the creeping signs of
regulatory interference in market phenomenon best left alone. Compulsory SIM
card registration, for instance, was an unnecessary burden on the system.
There appears to be renewed political domination of the regulatory process,
and an alienation of the private sector in the telecoms space. We all know
that many things could be changed for the better in this critical industry,
but the quality of the change is important too.
5. *Ghana Police Service*: the reformist instincts of the Inspector
General of Police notwithstanding, this security establishment got itself
involved in too many controversies for its own good, in some instances
actually damaging its credibility in the public?s perception.

There are certainly a number of organisations that came to our attention
that we decided to somewhat ?ignore? in this report. We have always
respected the National Development Planning Commission?s senior staffers,
but we also felt that the organisation is very much in flux at this time and
it would be best to give it a bit of time to settle. The GNPC puts us off by
their secrecy and aloofness and undemocratic attitude to public
accountability. First oil, notwithstanding, we decided that they do not
merit our ink, positively or negatively. Perhaps, who knows, 2011 may be
different.

Quality, Trade and the ?Moving Window?: the Globalization Process
This paper analyses the globalization process by reference to a model in which firms and countries differ both in productivity and quality.? The model implies that there is a lower bound to quality below which firms cannot sell, however low the (local) wage rate they face.? The range of quality levels between the maximum level and this lower bound shifts upwards when trade is liberalized (the ‘moving window’).? The initial (‘impact’) effect of globalization, i.e., that associated with trade liberalization, in an initially segmented (but not autarkic) world economy may well reduce welfare in countries with intermediate levels of capability , but these countries stand to be the most important gainers as capabilities are transferred across countries in subsequent phases of the globalization process.

This paper sets out an analytical framework which can be used to examine the evolution of market shares and to address debates regarding the “persistence of dominance”? question.? The method is applied to a study of 45 Japanese manufacturing industries over a 25-year period. Pope Benedict honours former President Kufour and wife

0

Pope Benedict XVI, has conferred on former President John Agyekum Kufour, the Papal Award of Knight Commander of St. Gregory the Great, for his dedicated service to mankind and the Catholic Church in general.

Also honoured was his wife, the former First Lady, Theresah Kufour, on who the Papal Award Dame of St Gregory the Great for her commitment to the plight of poor children and their mothers.

The award conferred on the former President is the highest ecclesiastical honour to be conferred on anybody, Catholic or non-Catholic in the annals of the Church in Ghana.

The Most Reverend Thomas Mensah, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, assisted by Archbishop Emeritus Akwasi Sarpong on behalf of the Pope conferred the honour on the former President at a ceremony held at the St. Gregory the Great Provincial Major Seminary at Parkoso near Kumasi, on Sunday.

A cross section of the clergy, traditional rulers, political leaders and civil society organizations attended the programme.
To signify his new status in the Church, former President Kufour was decorated with a medal and also given the Scroll of the Decree.

A citation accompanying the award and read by Archbishop Emeritus Sarpong said “You have done your best to give an example of how a Catholic should behave in a role of leadership in matters of the faith. The Church is proud of you for the way you have helped to promote humanity and Catholic principles.

“Showing Catholic principles, you refused to allow an International Conference of gay people to be held in Ghana. You have shown great leadership wherever the Lord had committed you as you had exhibited the principles of justice, peace and equity.
“It is for these reasons coupled with your Catholic principles that the Archdiocese of Kumasi requested and obtained for you from his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to be awarded.”

Archbishop Emeritus Sarpong lauded former President Kufour and said he was of the conviction that the award would help to propel him to greater heights in his endeavours.

Most Reverend Mensah appealed to all Catholics to be committed to the tenets of the Church to ensure its growth.

He stated that the awards had helped brought honour to the Archdiocese in general and also lauded the former first couple for their dedicated services to mankind.
