The Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), recently hosted professor Pikay Richardson, a renowned business economist from the University of Manchester business school in London.
Professor Richardson in his capacity as a visiting professor at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) delivered a lecture on the theme, Leading, Motivating and empowering? your staff for improved productivity.
The seminar was at the instance of the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) who organized the event.
Participants were drawn from all sectors of national and international development, with members of GIFF leading the pack held at the JSK Arthur hall in the GIFF complex in Tema.
GIFF president Joseph Agbaga said the seminar aimed at motivating staff of GIFF and members as well as their individual companies for optimum productivity.
??As corporate entities and individuals, leadership on a daily basis are confronted with myriad of challenges that require tact and influence to address. The success or otherwise of our organizations and whether or not the corporate goals or objectives of the organization would be realized depends largely on the leader. That is why whipping the subordinates in line through such important seminars has become a cardinal motive of GIFF?? he opined.
Influencing one?s subordinates and people who report to one in order to get them to buy into his or her vision is quite an important asset that many leaders must strive to acquire according to Mr. Agbaga.
The theme for the seminar he explained was carefully chosen to cover all the broad areas of leading, motivating and empowering in all facets of life encapsulating office and home, adding that the choice of the renowned economist who is recognized globally could not have been done any better.
Mr. Agbaga said more of such motivational and leadership seminars would be rolled out intermittently to encourage members of the institute and the public at large to ensure that both individuals and organizations are equipped continually to deliver.
